An incident occurred early on December 7, when a 54-year-old Russian tourist, identified as Ms. Nicoles, drowned after swimming off Pattaya Beach, Chonburi Province.

At approximately 00:45 Pol. Lt. Panasan Khrongsit, Deputy Inspector of Pattaya City Police Station, received a report of a foreign female tourist found unconscious on the shore near the A-One Hotel at Soi 3, Pattaya Beach Road. Emergency responders, including local police and rescue workers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation, were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the woman lying face down and unresponsive on the beach. Sgt. Takorn Apaiyan, an officer from the Pattaya City Police, was the first to administer CPR, with rescue personnel later joining in the efforts. Unfortunately, no vital signs were detected, and it was estimated that the victim had been deceased for approximately 30 minutes before being found.

Nearby, officers found the woman’s black shoulder bag approximately 200 metres from where her body was located. The bag contained personal identification, room keys, and some other belongings, which were collected as evidence.

According to Mr. Arthit, 43, the first person to discover the victim, he initially saw her entering the water alone while he was strolling along the beach looking for a fishing spot. About 50 minutes later, as he walked back, he noticed the woman lying motionless on the shore. Suspecting she had drowned, he immediately alerted authorities.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, as police review CCTV from the area.

54 year old Russian woman ?  If she is anything like the size of the Russian whales on the beach it will likely be a heart attack from obesity. Which is sad really as russian women look stunning from 18-28, prior to exploding

How could she drown in the sand?

That makes no sense.

She must have finished her swim, and then walked up on the beach, after which she keeled over, face first.

This is the only scenario which seems logical to me.

It's so surprising that one can just be walking or swimming along, one moment, and then 50-minutes later become lifeless.

Yet, this can happen unexpectedly to any one of us.

Life is so uncertain; it seems to me.

This is why I am always prepared for death, at any moment.

And, I try to keep my affairs in order, even the illicit ones.

Looking at the times she must have entered the water shortly before midnight.  Very strange time to go swimming. Makes me suspect suicide, possibly following a falling out with her partner.

Well done Sherlock!

A "Midnight swim" is very common and where is there any mention of a boyfriend in the report?

Your comment, as usual, makes no sense!

Where in the report does it say "she drown(s) in the sand?"?

My question is...

If she drowned and died in the ocean, then...

How was she able to ambulate so high up on the beach?

Or, did she drown at high tide, and then, somehow, get left on the beach as the water retreated.

But this makes no sense because she was seen alive 50-minutes before being found high on the beach, dead.

Something is fishy, here...

I assume they meant she washed up on the beach, you know like a beached whale.

I originally questioned whether or not this might be physically possible.

But, looking at the situation, no waves, and also the distance of the body from the shoreline, this is highly unlikely.

Therefore, either she ambulated or was carried to her final resting spot.

Just check out the distance from water's edge to where she finally came to rest.

So, as I say, more info is definitely needed.

As do you.  How about she entered the water, experienced difficulties, drowned/died and was washed back onto the beach?

It's hard to tell from the blurry picture, but that looks like sand below the high tide line, darker/flatter/wet sand.

Easy for someone to drown in shallow water, inattention and inhale a little….

…gag and struggle to shore and drop dead due to lack of oxygen.

It takes very little water to drown.

Well Pattaya beach only has a few drownings a year and some years I think there are zero drownings.....Now Phuket has loads of drownings, plenty of times 2-3 deaths a week from drowning...

Totally..impossible.

Just look at the distance from the edge of the water.

Yes.

But she was seen alive 50 minutes before she was found dead.

So, there is no time for the tide to recede that fast.

I told you that earlier so why don't you shut up and wait for "more info"!

I agree with you that more info is required here.

Because, obviously, some key points are missing.

I never wonder around.

Don't know about anyone else, of course.
