Let:s see, gloom and doom vs. unbreathable air and dying years before your time. Sounds like they need to do a little research before making a big move.

  • The freedom of Thailand must feel wonderful compared to the tyranny of Starmer's Britain.   Come to think of it, North Korea probably looks pretty good in comparison as well.

  • Those living in yabba infested villages might not agree with this rose colored glasses news article.

  • The smart Brits are leaving that country, because they do not want to pray 5 times a day and get locked up for a FB post.

I suspect it's not just GB.  I'm recently returned from 9 days visiting Germany, Austria, and several other countries.  Wore my sunglasses--briefly--once.  The rest of the time the weather was cold, dreary, dark, and gray.  In the morning it was barely getting light around 8am and in the afternoon it was dark before 4pm.  Most of the time it was so dark and dreary the drivers had their lights on during the 'day'.   Spouse and I kept saying to each other that we could see why so many Europeans come to Thailand to check that the sun's still there.

I know a few Thai ladies who would love to go to Denmark, or somewhere similar.

And I have just said goodbye to a Danish lady returning home. Next year she will come back with friends because she wants them to know why they should move here with her.

Great beaches, great climate, great ladies, good standard of living, cheap beer, relatively safe, most Thais are welcoming, it’s a no brainer.

This has  been the case for decades, pre COVID it was estimated that around 74 thousand UK expats lived here.

I believe that number is now in the 40 thousands.

And the retirees will have to survive on Frozen Pensions ... or didn't anyone tell them ?

Not really, the majority will have put their NI into workplace/private pensions and be relatively well off.

Very few that are subject to the full force of the UK government discrimination will consider moving.

I would like to remind everyone that English winters are not exactly Minneapolis in January. Zip it about the bl00die weather!

Naw dude, there is a qualitative difference between an English winter and one in inland Minneapolis, or Fairbanks, or Fargo...

Moisture. Blighty is a pirate ship surrounded by cold nasty water. Wet and grey and cold at 35F is far worse than a crisp 10F on a bright snowy day.

None of them learn the language.

None of them intergrate or learn the culture.

British for ya ... irony completely lost.

All they do is moan about immigration.

British weather really isn't that bad. Never that cold and never that hot. Lots of beautiful countryside.

Worth escaping at least for Jan-March although that's when Thailand has air so toxic most days that it's advised not to breathe. The spring and summer in the UK is pretty nice.

The dream is splitting your time between various and getting to enjoy the best of many different places.

What a load of tripe.Smart Brits are working hard and getting on with life. I don’t know where you came from, but my Brit friends and family are doing very well thank you. Come have a look where I live near the Cap D Antibes in S of France. Most of the 100 million euro houses / mansions are owned by Brits, and the yachts in the port are mostly flying the Union Jack.
There’s a reason why Thailand attracts a lot of low class idiots.  They can rent bikes for cheap, drugs on every street corner, cheap girls and restaurants.
No way they can get that elsewhere!

Shocking news ! <deleted>e weather in Europe! Lol...... but only issue i have with Thai is you got to live with <deleted> expats who generally haven't a pot to piss in. Apart from that it's great !

Over the years here as a tourist and worker I found the 14 day millionaire tourists to be a pain. There is also a strange fixation with financial status among many expats. I am happy enough with what I can afford and have no interest in keeping up with the Jones's so I avoid this tedious assumption living in the sticks you can live a better life, I like Bangkok. Been there and done Isaan and Phuket.

Thailand is famous for its sparkling temples, golden buddhas and over 1,500 miles of luxurious coastline with pristine white sands, surrounded by 1,430 islands.

Let me guess, this is actually paid-for advertising by the TAT?
