Followed by shop security staff

Featured Replies

My wife and I went to a Big well-known supermarket in Khon Kaen  today.  As soon as we walked in a security man started following us.  And he did follow us closely and watched everything we did.  I was going to go to their manager and complain but wifie didn't want a fuss so we just left without buying anything.  We both felt very uncomfortable.  Is this normal here, do they think we are all shoplifters?

You sure it wasn't your wife's "brother" ? 😅

Seeing as we have been married for 24 years, yes, I am sure.  And I think that was uncalled for.

Were you dressed like Brian Clough ?

Don't overthink the small stuff...  its just a bored security guard.

What were you going to complain about ? a security guard who thinks he's doing his job well ?

Big C? they seem to have too many undercover staff, usually profiling people with Singlets, they don't usually bother with a couple

It seems many security guards in Thailand would love to be police, but they didn't make it.

And now they somehow want to show that they have all the power.

Brian Clough ?

No idea who he is because as usual your prejudice against non British people on here !

Uptight people in this thread.
Perhaps he wanted your autograph. Should have asked him if he wanted that or your picture. Don’t listen to your wife, btw.

Send wife in one direction, and you in another.

Then only one of you will feel uncomfortable.

Not had security guards follow me around.

But, It's the sales staff that get me going.

Got to the point,  I no longer go into Mega Home.  f-them.

Not only am I British, I'm English and from Nottingham.  And better still I once met the late, great, Brian.

How can you define english? From England ?

I'm British means?

Perhaps not dressing like a Beagle Boy would help. 🙂

Perhaps they had an incident with a farang recently and the manager said to keep a close eye on all farangs.

On of the things that my wife drove me to distraction with was her refusal to confront other Thais. She didn't even want to ask directions when I got lost on a back road. She was fast enough to confront me though.

I used to go to the London Boat show ever year and once had the sales guy follow me around on a yacht, as though I was going to steal the door handles. I did feel very uncomfortable, like the OP, and left before I had to.
