I wonder how Donnie likes being upstaged by Elon and how long he will put up with it. Or perhaps it's the other way around and President Musk will tire of Donnie.

Glad you agree!

Interesting to see people cracking up about normal American politics. It's far from the first time bills had to be adjusted and subjected to a re-vote.

So the answer to the question is "bipartisan."

Bipartisan bills, who knew such a thing existed, eh?

Except it wasn't bipartisan. It was a complete and total victory by the deep state Uniparty. The Republican/Democrat divide is a facade that is way past its sell by date. I can't believe people still keep pushing that fairy tale.

The division now is between sovereigntists, represented by MAGA and Tump,  and globalists, repreresented by Democrats and RINOs.

The globalists won this battle. It wasn't some heroic act of compromise. It was defeat by a superior force. America lost.

Who's a lame duck?

lame duck    noun

1.  An elected officeholder or group continuing in office during the period between failure to win an election and the inauguration of a successor.

2.  An officeholder who has chosen not to run for reelection or is ineligible for reelection.

3.  An ineffective person; a weakling.

Biden ticks the box on all three.

So does Trump. DUH. That is, if he follows the constitution. In his case, a big IF.

Well, at least the upcoming Musk regime won't be boring!

The bottom line is that Trump is not yet the President. The next Congress will have more Trump loyalists.

JD Vance is the one to watch.

You don't seem to understand that "lame duck" refers to a (p)resident who lost an election (or in this case dropped out), and has limited power/influence in the remaining months in office before the transition.

The term does not refer to the incoming President.

DUH, indeed.

Disagree. Too many down ballot elections were stolen. The next Congress has just as many globalists with an 'R' after their name as this one, and even more Democrats in the House. If anything, the next Congress will be worse. Perhaps the elections in 2026 may finally yield results.

But nothing will change with the new Congress. It will continue to be a fight with Trump being forced to scrap for every inch against a DC Swamp that opposes the genuine reforms necessary for America.

Or is coming to the end of his second full term after the election of the new president elect!

Unlike the UK system where the handover is nearly instantaneous!

Ezzacktfully!

You could refer to President Trump as a 'lame duck' in 2028, when Vance will be the President-elect.

Don’t Listen to Steve Bannon. Trump Will Be a Lame Duck, not a Third-Termer | Washington Monthly

Quote

Don’t Listen to Steve Bannon. Trump Will Be a Lame Duck, not a Third-Termer

The MAGA movement podcaster nurses the fiction that Trump can be president-for-life because he’s afraid congressional Republicans will start disobeying Trump’s demands.

by Bill Scher December 19, 2024

Earlier this week, Steve Bannon—the former Trump aide and podcaster—told the New York Young Republican Club falsely that the president-elect could run for a third term in 2028, citing a claim from Trump’s legal adviser Mike Davis that the Constitution’s two-term limit, “doesn’t actually say consecutive.” A flood of headlines followed, suggesting Trump is preparing to trample the Constitution and cling to power.

Bannon, of course, is wrong. The 22nd Amendment is plain: “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.” There is no exception for non-consecutive terms. Twice means twice.

Only MAGA call their fellow Americans the enemy, just because they don't share the same ideology. Think about that for a moment.

Of course, because it's an anti-democracy pro fascist movement or pro autocracy movement for the easily triggered.

I recall interviews with maga crowds during the campaign circus asking the cult members --- would you choose Harris or Putin? Always Putin.

American democracy is in deep peril.

"...the president-elect could run for a third term in 2028,..."

The author is speculating about the time between the 2028 election and the end of January 2029 when Vance will be sworn in, meaning Trump will be ticking box #2 following Vance's landslide victory.

He in no way says or implies that Trump will be a lame duck throughout his entire second maganificent term.

You're totally wrong.

https://theconversation.com/the-election-is-over-but-what-is-a-lame-duck-anyway-242377

The 2024 election has finally ended. What happens now?

There’s a 2½-month period between Election Day and Inauguration Day. It’s commonly known as the “lame-duck” period, when the outgoing president still holds official power but their successor has been chosen and is waiting to take the reins. Donald Trump is constitutionally barred from a third term in office by the 22nd Amendment, so he will be a lame duck from his first day in office, though his successor will not be known until 2028.

As long as it ain't Biden, and it ain't, then all is in good hands with Team MAGA. No need to ask, unless you have some impairment typical of a democrat Biden luvin loser.

Only kamala and Biden referred to Trump and his supporters as marxists, fascists, nazis, hitler and garbage, biggest threat to America etc and so on, just because they had nothing else to run their campaign on and guess what.....LOL....yup "hitler" won the election in a LANDSLIDE as America elected "hitler".... ha ha ha ha ....

Kamala sure aced it with her hitler obsession, wouldn't you say!!??

Think about that for a moment, and think about about Trump winning the EC, popular vote, both houses. What did kamala win? The award for "I was raised middle class..." dumbest response to a question.

Who is controlling the budget bill? Mainly Johnson and Schumer. But I know that you lefties like to think that Biden who is on top of everything and quick as a whip is mastering this wonderful episode in congress.

Only Johnson. If he could whip his GOP led house there would be no need to negotiate with Schumer. Y'all seem to forget that the GOP control the house and the purse strings SOLELY. They don't need the Dems, but he and the GOP cannot govern.

Elon wasn't working for himself when he stopped that original 1500 page criminal monstrosity. He was working for us... the American people. All 80+ million of us who voted for Trump in order to change what this nation had become.

And as you saw, even Trump + Elon's compromise bill didn't pass. And do you want to know what? Not a single person I know is sad about that. We're thrilled.

So you can go right on believing whatever fairy tales you want about the Grinch who stole Christmas, but the truth is the American people are overjoyed right now at this outcome. This is exactly what *WE*...not Elon...*WE*...want.  We want the government closed until the DC Swamp Creatures infesting it realize that we, the people, are in control again. And that is exactly what is happening.

Has exactly zero to do with Elon. He merely performed a valuable lobbying service for us, and we'll kick him to the curb if he gets out of line.

Well if ungovernable chaos is what you wanted... you definitely got it 😉

Sadly we didn't. America lost this battle. The deep state got the Democrats and RINOs to collaborate and pass a pork filled, corrupt disaster of a CR that Trump was forced to accept.

Nobody like to lose, but you have to be honest when it happens.  I only hope that since we exposed the Uniparty members embedded within the Republican party that we can find ways to pressure them the next time this happens and get a better result.

GOP has controlled the house for 4 years already. They have had 4 years to pass an actual budget but couldn't whip (pressure) the votes the entire time, and could barely pass a CR multiple times. What makes you think that this pattern will change now?
