  • They had plenty of straws though.

  • Did they really run out or just lock the cupboards? 🙂 Given the behaviour of groups of South Asian men on planes when confronted with 'free' alcohol, that is what I would have done.

"The Medical Association of Surat would like to welcome all the heavy drinkers on the flight to our medical facilities to treat your livers and kidneys." 😁 Ignorance about the effects of alcohol consumption on the body is bliss, I suppose.

You wanted then Tony, now u can deal with them.    Make sure u have plenty satang to make change for their purchases

what part of the distinction between Thai AirAsia and Air India Express confuses you?

Must have been a desperate lot hope the bars were stocked and ready for them lol.

I don't think that the original headline did say that , it didn't say Surat Thani

Yes it did and these a note about the change of the title posted in the thread

Indeed it did say that and it was changed but posts that commented on the original were left in place.

Yes, it was. I've seen that in pop-up notifications.

Don't most flights carry WAY more than Bt70000 worth of alcohol?

China Airlines of Taiwan used to.

USD2000 is almost nothing. China Air used to provide premium brands, and all you could drink.

They whine, they cajole, they try to get as stupid drunk as possible, they negotiate, they become a real pain in the arse, they ignore anything they don't want to hear but over all

they continue to ask 700 more times after being told "No."

Easier to just bring a limited amount on board and run out quickly.

When I read the headline, I initially thought it was a group of Hash House Harriers on the flight.  It appears that is not the case.

Was the booze free if not AIr India is quite happy to run out of booze.

Exactly what I wondered if selling alcahol you are probably talking of 15000 baht of stock

I have seen personally the behaviour of  Westerners when on holiday in Europe on board planes, so please spare us your condescending remarks of "South Asian" men and alcohol.

Probably what happened was they forgot to go and ask the pilots for some. They've usually got a good few bottles of whiskey in the cockpit.

It would have been fine but for the guy who kept ringing the bell to buy all the stewardesses a drink...

Ex PM Sretta panic decision to open up the borders to Indian tourists will be looked back on as one of the worst decisions in Thai history.

Exactly what I was wondering.

I think that if they had charged in-flight alcohol prices, there'd be plenty of instances of 3 men sharing 1 gin, and asking for a discount because they brought their own cup.

Thanks for clarity. You would THINK that would be included in the article which didn't make clear even where Surat was right away in the title AND the interesting fact it's a dry state. Now it makes sense and is kind of funny.

If you’ve been reading here much you know this isn’t exactly great literature. But that’s where the comedy comes in when they try to embellish with 1940s style phrases. Happy holidays

Great to know that we can rely on Air India to get these direct flights running - makes you wonder why Thai Airways didnt do it? Could it be they are mis managed? Look forward to more stories about the crossing - it could be a regular feature

Only 70,000 baht ?!
How many passengers: 400 ?

This is 175 baht (5$) per person, or less than a lady drink.
Not much of " Premium alcoholic beverages " there !

If the indian city is a dry  one they made sure they made up for it on the flight
