On Sunday morning a woman was found ablaze inside a stationary subway car at Stillwell Avenue station in Brooklyn. New York City police have launched a murder investigation into the shocking act that has left the community shaken.

The grim discovery was made around 7:30 a.m. local time by officers conducting a routine patrol. The police had initially been alerted by the smell of smoke and commotion on the platform, leading them to the subway car where the woman was found on fire. Despite the swift arrival of emergency services, paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene. Her identity has yet to be confirmed.

Jessica Tisch, New York City Police Commissioner, revealed that a man suspected of setting the woman on fire remained at the scene. His image, captured on a body-worn police camera while he sat on a bench at the station, was promptly shared with the public. Thanks to a tip from three teenagers who recognized the suspect on another train, police were able to apprehend him later that day.

“This is a heinous act, and we are committed to bringing justice to the victim,” Tisch stated during a press conference.  The tragic incident was just one of two deadly attacks on the city’s subway system on Sunday.

In a separate case, officers responded to reports of an assault at the 61st Street-Woodside station in Queens. Upon arrival, they found a 37-year-old man with a fatal stab wound to his torso and a 26-year-old man suffering from multiple slashes across his body. The older victim was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, while the younger man remains in stable condition.

As investigations into both incidents continue, New York City grapples with the unsettling violence that has disrupted the lives of its subway commuters. For now, the police are urging anyone with additional information to come forward as they work to piece together the circumstances surrounding these senseless acts.

I saw that, can't  understand why she just stood there burning,  no screaming, nothing.

Not much screaming can be done with lungs full of fire, not oxygen.

Worse, a NYC cops just walked by her and did nothing.  Jesus, we learned "Drop and Roll" and "Smother the flames" in freaking grade school.  Yet even NYC cops do nothing.

America is a shadow of its former self.  This is beyond sick.

"Society" didn't do this, a sick individual did.

I don't know the full backstory to this it seems she was sleeping and he somehow set fire to her with just a match, but in Guatemala throwing petrol over somebody and setting them alight is a mob "justice" thing.

Trump was right!

The batch let in by Biden were primarily released from prisons and mental institutions all in the name of increasing Democratic representation and votes.

Why wasn’t he picking lettuce as Biden wanted us to believe.

The Daniel Penny effect?  Maybe people saw that trial and even if they did want to help would probably weigh up the risks of being arrested and tried for doing so.   Too high risk to help strangers in that city I think.

Yup, the Daniel Penny effect has been given as a reason why bystanders were unwilling to aid the woman.  But long before Daniel Penny's case attracted so much attention, New Yorkers had been hesitant to render any help to victims of subway crime.  Basically, they fear the consquences of getting involved in a criminal matter.

Critics say bystanders stood by while illegal migrant allegedly burned woman to death on NYC subway: ‘Daniel Penny effect’

“Nobody came to her aid,” said Guardian Angels founder and community activist Curtis Sliwa. “There’s no doubt that people don’t want to get involved. It’s the Daniel Penny factor. It’s frozen people. They’re saying to themselves: ‘I don’t want to get jammed up like Penny.

“People should have been running over to the woman on fire. They did nothing. They said nothing,” Sliwa said, calling the reluctance of bystanders to intervene “the Daniel Penny effect.”

Guess he wasn't a much needed farm hand or leaf collecter as the Democrats try to portray all those crossing illegally to be.

He was deported once before and came back!

He won’t be able to do that again unless he gets convicted & sentenced real quick and Joe Biden shows

compassion.

I hope the NY left are happy and satisfied. They got exactly what they wanted after persecuting the hero Daniel Penney.

Any N Yorkers here to confirm?

You would need a screw loose to intervene in one sided altercations where women and children are being attacked by you'know'whos.

Once upon a time the Gov of NY unleashed the national guard to protect the subway travelers from the criminal, drug and mental health afflicted !

Very strange and equally deranged comment related to this incident.

Comparatively little comment as to the horrific pain and suffering  for the victim  but plenty  about assumed culpability of cause by political dogma and sfa  about mentality of "accused" perp.

Guess who I think has the sicker mindset !
