There;s so many around now, most don't have the funds and are turning to criminal activity to supplement their stay. They can't work here, and they don't have the funds. 

The visa policy by Sretta was panic ridden and insane - it's ruining Thailand. 

They say they are trying to clean up Pattaya?

Pattaya doesn't control borders. The new leadership from last year do. They have relaxed the border policy so that anyone, even with a criminal record for quadruple murder, can enter.

You have been consistently trying to link misbehaviour, drunkenness and crime to Thailand's visa policy with zero evidence.

 

Thailand's tourism sector makes a massive contribution to its GDP. Thailand has had a visa waiver system for decades. Thailand has had a vibrant nightlife for tourists for decades. Some of those drunk tourists end up getting in fights, doing stupid stuff, getting arrested, etc.

 

Real criminals set up front businesses and have lawyers and agents process their work permits and non-imm B extensions.

 

You can keep banging on about this but until you find some convincing evidence you are just reading news stories and then concocting a fulfilment scenario in your own mind along the lines of, "Look there is a really drunk farang on the news, I bet there here on a visa I don't approve of."

More like 10 years for this long term visa. Sure the visa agents are very helpful in obtaining this 10 year long term visa. From Chiang Mai news: I'm not the only one here noticing the increasing sh*tlode of foreigners, both long stay and the 10 days type. It's getting ugly.

I don't believe they get stamped in for 10 years, the passport is unlikely to last that long.... saying that, I am not familiar with all the T&Cs of this Visa type. I used to take interest, but there are so many different Visa types nowadays and with varying T&Cs that I lost track. Suffice to say if agents can get this LTR, bypassing some requirements, yes we would have a lot of younger Expats, probably looking to earn money here.
