What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2025)

Featured Replies

Have just watched the movie "Everest" and found it "stunning" in many respects. At the end I wondered why people risked their lives doing this....I know the answer being, "Because it's there", but  I cannot fathom this at all.

I have personally flown on helicopters to many oil platforms in bad weather, sailed in rig boats in appalling seas and flown in an aeroplane with faulty landing gear, but these were supposedly risk free ventures and not knowingly putting my life at risk.

A good movie but a  sad movie IMO.

Last night I finished season 6 of Ice Cold Murders: Rocco Schiavone and it was very good IMHO, just like the previous 5 seasons. If you haven't seen it yet, it's well worth a look.

Here's what IMDB says about it: "Weed smoking, foulmouthed Rocco Schiavone is an offbeat Deputy Commissioner of the State Police. For disciplinary reasons he is transferred to the Alpine town of Aosta, far from his beloved Rome. The sophisticated but cranky Roman despises the mountains, the cold, and the provincial locals as much as he disdains his superiors and their petty rules. But he loves solving crimes."

I watched it here: https://www.channel4.com/programmes/ice-cold-murders-rocco-schiavone#

All 6 seasons are available.

Very well done. Entertaining and chilling.

So, watched a couple of series that were recommended some days ago.

All her fault ( 2025, 8 episode mini series )

7.6 imdb

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt31314751/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk

So, this i found entertaining, a lot of twists in the tale to keep you guessing. Usual grandiose acting from the American cast but the storyline makes up for that.

The Stolen Girl (2025, 5 episode mini series) 6.4 imdb

While the synopsis of this and All her fault seem very similar they are worlds apart.

The Stolen Girl doesn’t deserve the 6.4 rating, 5.4 imho.

Some really bad acting, some scenes are amusing they are so bad ( the cat fight at the end and the old guy falling down the stairs ) but the car crash scene is hilarious ( not intentionally unfortunately ! ).

The plot is very sketchy also, particularly the young journalist who apparently is also the world’s greatest detective !!

So bad it is good …… almost !

The Riot Women is so good. The Iris Affair was also good.

I decided to try and watch the movie, "One Battle after Another", but really couldn't get into it and early on in the movie, the part where Sean Penn managed to get an erection as he was having a gun pointed at him, was beyond belief – – and I can honestly say that when I had a loaded pistol put to my head by an angry Libyan soldier, holding onto my bladder contents was my prime concern.

I couldn't watch it all and this part summary just about says it all for me.........

"PTA's usual offbeat humour is basically MIA, and without it, long stretches drag and feel oddly dull. The film indulges its own grandeur, with sprawling chases and spectacle, but without clarity or cohesion. Honestly? It's his weakest film yet. It wants to be grand, relevant, provocative - and in parts it succeeds - but just doesn't hold it together. In the end, there's no clear overall message, just a lot of battles, one after another, that feel thrown at you without being stitched into something coherent.

Watched that 20 years ago. Quite good. Had to DL it again to refresh my memory that I'd seen it but it's worth another watch.

They did some other quality stuff around the same time period that you should check out. I've watched Regenesis a few times and it's very good.

Yes. Didn't you get the memo? I guess it was need to know. 555

A bit corny, but I'm enjoying "Dark Winds"

Another constant in Thailand is the garbage Major and SF cinema dish up in Thailand ..and it's not just me. The stats show ..Thai movie visits are tanking .  Where are the movies that require engaging the  brain to enjoy?

Another Paul Thomas Anderson masterpiece. Great movie ..get over Sean's erection and follow the story

A similar constant in the US is the garbage the studios are putting out, and it's not just me. The stats show that movie visits in the US are tanking. Down about 40% in the last five years. Most all the movies from Hollywood require disengaging the brain to enjoy.

I'd rather that you do that LOL.....anyway it sets the scene for the nonsense to follow.

I've been looking forward to this one.

A lawyer with ties to the underworld becomes a mole for a group of journalists.
With a hidden camera, she reveals a world of money laundering and violence.

Only taken you 15 years to get round tuit.

Why would anyone go back to the beginning of a 6 season series, with 6 - 8 episodes in each. If you watch 3 per day, every day, it would take you 16 days to catch up.
