So buddy I too thought this is so silly at the start.

Did you see Once Upon a Time in Hollywood? That too started out  looking strange.

Funny that the two main actors are in both movies.

Give the movie  a look as it too has the same amazing quailty.

OAUATIH was amazing .......

No !!!

It is terrible, try All Her Fault much better.

Thought All Her Fault was a glorified soapie with a lot of hysterical overacting.

I was on a flight back to the UK yesterday so was 'obliged' to watch a couple of movies.

Firstly watched Black Mass from 2015. I had seen it before but some time ago. IMDb 6.8/10. Johnny Depp playing James 'Whitey' Bulger - Irish mob boss (and FBI informant) in Boston in 1970's, 80's. Really enjoyed it. Depp is quite menacing in the role.

Secondly, watched Friendship. 2024 movie starring Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd. Robinson is a socially awkward married man desperate to become friends with his new neighbour. I don't think a movie has ever left me feeling as confused. I don't mean that I didn't understand it. I still can't decide whether I liked it or hated it, and whether it was a comedy or drama. I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing. A dark comedy will probably best describe it. If I hadn't been on a plane I probably would have turned it off after 15 minutes. Glad I didn't though.

Be interested to know if anyone else has seen it and what they thought of it. If anyone does watch it be interested to hear their opinion. I doubt anyone will think "it was ok". Think it's a love or hate movie.

I did watch a third movie but for the life of me can't remember what it was. Really can't have been much good if I've forgotten it less than 24 hours later.

I thought that Once upon a time in Hollywood was a good movie and I don't remember Sean Penn being in it?? And it was based upon true events, but it makes no difference to me as I like what I like!!

He was probably referring to DiCaprio. He was in Once upon a time in Hollywood. Great movie by the way. Strange in places but very good.

As I said previously, I liked it as well.

The 'key" to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is being familiar with the Hollywood history behind it.  One might think the movie is really about the DeCaprio character but the dread is knowing that the creepy long-haired guy that the Brad Pitt character sees while working on the roof is Charlie Manson, though the movie doesn't tell you that.  I'm impressed that the guy's name is never mentioned and the way the movie ends.  I didn't think Tarantino was capable understatement, I think this is his best work.

I finished season 1 of The Iris Affair last night and enjoyed it. It was recommended by @Will27 and mentioned by a few others. It's on TheRARBG, TPB, LimeTorrents + others. Worth a look IMHO.

Cooper & Fry

UK crime Ch 5.........--4 episodes 3 out....IMDB   6.5--- I have not seen it,.......doesn't have a great write up.  The whole of the first episode is also on YouTube (for whatever reason)  its written by Stephen Booth, who has put out a lot of crime novels, so I'll give it a try.

BLURB --- Watched the first episode of this new crime drama. It's from the "Cooper & Fry" novels of English writer Stephen Booth. The novels are set in Derbyshire, England, but like other recent police dramas: "Murder Most Puzzling", "Art Detectives" and "Lynley", it's actually filmed in Ireland. You hear more Irish accents than Derbyshire ones in the first episode. The detectives work out of the fictitious rural police station of Edendale.

The Carman Family Deaths Interesting murder documentary.

I've watched the first two episodes of "The Beast in Me" and so far, it's pretty good, and maybe great.

First time I've noticed Claire Danes, and she seems to be great.

You never watched her in Romeo + Juliet with Leonardo DiCaprio, or Homeland?

Homeland (TV Series 2011–2020) - IMDb 8.3/10.
Ran for 10 years with almost 100 episodes — excellent viewing for anyone who may have missed it.

Thanks, I started watching it yesterday after your post, and so far, it's great.

Danes was actually kinda hot back then...

But WHY is it "pretty good"???????

I don't know about others on this thread, but if I am to pay attention to your opinion, I need to know why you have that opinion!  Don't want to be "picky", but if this thread is to be useful, it needs to have opinions backed up by specific reasons.

I only watched two episodes when I posted, and as I remembered, I said pretty good, and maybe great.

Going back a few years, but I remember really enjoying the first three seasons, but had to stop in season 4 when Danes's character became (for me) unbearably irritating.  Everything began to be focused on her, so that even a dog barking might be the occasion for the camera to zero in on her face to see her bulging eyes as she went into panic mode.

We all have different tastes and opinions.

Best thing is to have a look for yourself I would've thought.

It's  not about "different tastes and opinions" - we can all take that for granted.

But one good function of having a site like this is to gather some information about what kind of movie/series it is....give me just a sentence telling me what the main theme or action is about will be sufficient to let me know whether it's worth "looking for" myself.

Just finished watching the movie  Bugonia, starring Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons , directed by Yorgos Lanthimos.

part drama/sf/comedy , weird but very watchable.

also the TV series Pluribus , similar concept , now on episode 5

I guess that must be why she got an Emmy for her acting in Homeland then.

She's still playing that same panic mode, or about to have a nervous breakdown look in The Beast In Me. It does get pretty irritating after a while, and if you read some of the reviews on IMDB a lot of people felt the same and gave up after an episode or two.
