January 5, 20251 yr I need to see an orthopaedic doctor due to persistent undiagnosed pain in one of my knees. No previous problems I would prefer Sri Racha but am happy to use Pattaya or even Bangkok if you think it is worth the trip. I previously used Phaya Thai Sri Racha for an unrelated issue. They may still have me on their records. I can post symptoms if you wish. I have prepared a simple document listing them for the doctor. Can you recommend anywhere and suggest what tests may be conducted to diagnose the problem. Thanks.
January 5, 20251 yr Popular Post Phyathai Sri Racha should be fine for this. You can expect a physical examination and probably Xray . Depending on what these show additional imaging might or might be needed.
January 6, 20251 yr Popular Post I'm guessing, but I expect the doctors will tell you that you have inflammation in the knee, and they'll prescribe bags of anti-inflammatory pills for (X,000) or (XX,000) Baht. There are numerous natural foods (incl. fruits and berries) that reduce inflammation effectively. If you eat western-style foods, they will probably be one of the causes of the inflammation, if that is what you have. The doctors will probably also give you many other pills, such as antibiotics, which will destroy your body's main immune system, the gut microbiome. Antibiotics are good at doing this. Lastly, are you overweight or an active runner? I wish you a speedy recovery.
January 6, 20251 yr I may be wrong but you probably have osteo arthritis like me in my right knee. I have seen a few different specialists about it and had most of the cures from Mobic pills to injections. I have seen several ortho surgeons and it's just a merry go round of advice. You could probably find the best advice online as, short of a knee replacement, you will go through lots of appointments and lots of meds. What age are you and had you had any previous damage to the knee? Over the course of 45 years I had 3 arthroscopic operations on my knee and it is now nearly bone on bone in the joint. I'm 70 and am not interested in a huge operation and rehab period getting a new knee so I am managing it with Tiger Balm, exercise and pain killers.

Like you I had 3 ortho without satisfactory long term help with the bone on bone. Finally bit the bullet & over course of 2 yrs had 2 knee replacements while in my mid 70's. Recovery not pleasant but not as bad as anticipated - suggest doing many deep knee bends prior to surgery to get muscles stretched big time because that is where I sensed the biggest recovery pain (stretched muscles during surgery?). Oh yes, while resting be sure to keep leg elevated. Anyway, I have never regretted finally doing it as I exercise walking without any pain. Dr Chanakarn in Chiang Mai. Edit PS, I have heard that in Bangkok Dr panya has a good reputation.

Yes he is definitely top Dr for knee issues in Thailand and certainly worth travelling to consult if problem seems significant. But no harm starting closer to home first. Meds (unless controlled drug) should not be bought at hospital as markup is considerable.

August 10, 2025Aug 10 For Sheryl or other recommendations, I am interested in good knee replacement doctors in the Pattaya/Si Racha areas only. Any help appreciated. PS--I know BPH and Phyathai have good Orthopedic doctors but not sure if any good knee doctors. Thanks .
