Russian tourist attacked in Pattaya over livestream mix-up

Evangii the Russian tourist filming at 4:30 am. Oh what could go wrong, oh what could go wrong? Harmless livestreaming video? Really? How are people suppose to know? About two years ago I was talking to a friend on the steps opposite Mike shopping mall where coconut tree girls frequented. This jackass Australian came up with a full-frame camera lens  and sarted sticking the camera in our faces while grinning and laughing. For him it was a big joke, he thounght like the Russian tourist he can do what he liked as it was a public area. It was his right to take photos without consent as my friend and I were in a public place. No assumption of privacy. Sorry I have very little sympathy for people like the Russian and Australian  who get beat up. They know they what they are doing can get people upset ....

women colloquially referred to as “coconut tree girls,” who solicit foreign tourists.   Maybe they were late night botanists and were mistaken for hookers.....🤔..😅

  • The woman  was on the beach road @ 4.30 am she was probably worried her family would jump to the wrong conclusion.  Her factory job in bkk is where the money 💰 she sends home comes from honest

These livestreamers and "social media influencers" need to get knocked down a peg.  Too bad there weren't any "enraged netizens" nearby, she could have put hands on them too.

Consent? There is no such law in Thailand! Unless it's to defame the person publicly.

Under Thai law, the offence carries penalties of up to three years imprisonment, a fine of up to 60,000 baht, or both

So that's settled then , 500 baht fine and a Wai , plus 500 baht fine for waking the police up at such an ungodly hour......😀

Well, sad to say the jackass Aussie might just be right. If you want privacy, you have to create it for yourself.

I am not a big fan of it either, but it is simple reality these days. We live in an Insta and streaming world, like it or not.

Yes late night botany can lead to many misunderstandings on the beach road

Surely you mean bottom me.😉

He's probably from America where they have a right to invade privacy.

true, they just do not understand, far to self centred

but how ? her privacy wasn't being invaded, you cant be "private" and "public" at the same time, its like being drunk and sober.

and you completely missed the point.... are you a yank.

how can I be private in a public space?

it's a pity you don't understand... most non yanks would.

Hell will freeze over before any thai cops those penalties.  It really is a biased country that lacks any common sense in my book.

The Thai police seem more interested in protecting the image of Pattaya as a world renowned Tourist beach resort 😱

Than doing their jobs arresting people doing no good

Another wannabe Tik Tok star.... MInd you, imagine the revenue!

There seems to be no limit to the $$ for livestream / YT / TT channels.

Get out there, strap on a GoPro and go for it!

What about all the videos from locals filming tourists in compromising positions without their consent and which then go viral and outrage netizens? THAT seems to be allowed since it happens frequently.

Very true, and a recent incident with the Swiss man and his misses having a barney in their truck recorded by someone sparking an incorrect rumour of a firearm being involved which was only proved wrong after the person who recorded it stuck it all over the internet.

There are too many people walking around setting up YouTube channels, and invading peoples personal spaces.

However, there is no reason for over the top behaviour by immature clowns, who don't know how to communicate in a rational manner.

A Thai communicating with a Russian?  In what language?

she doesn't have 500 baht,    so it'll be three wai's all around and a basket of birds nest which her friend will have provided.

Now go home and comeback tomorrow night to find another victim.  :guitar:

Whether right or wrong, she got off very lightly. He could have booked himself about 4 days in the hospital and come out with a certificate claiming he will never walk proper again, not to mention the stress and emotional impact that will be with him for the rest of his life, hence his over the top compensation claim. Well that's what a good Thai netizen would have done.

I'm surprised you don't read more about these "content creators / bloggers / vloggers / youtubers / live streamers" getting attacked more often, total scumbags.

Agreed, and their so called 'content' has already been done a thousand times over: eating breakfast, getting a visa, walking on beach road or soi 6, recounting fabricated stories, looking for a condo...... Its mind-numbing.  What's more, they think its a real job and will fund their stay in the land of smiles. Pathetic.

You missed... how to buy a cheese and ham toastie from 7/11.

Experts on all things thai after a week, very impressive.

Working girl was not interested in some free advertising or maybe not wanting to be seen by her foreign money sending boyfriend.

Does Thailand have a law against filming people without their permission in a public place? Where I'm from if you're in a public place you have no reasonable right to privacy.

and where's that?

Methinks there are far too many "bloggers" wandering around invading folks privacy with a camera in their hand thinking they can film whenever, whoever they please. Many of them deserve a punch on the snout

She was very lucky to meet nice and kind Russian.

A typical one would have helped her to earn more money by knocking out her front teeth... and then giving BJ's.

Thais outraged that a foreigner might be filming them, but they find it perfectly acceptable to take photos and videos of my blond-haired kids without my permission.

Yes, I had some enraged botanists on Soi 6 objecting to my doing a photographic sweep of the attractions.

But was able to placate them by taking a keen interest in their scientific laboratory upstairs. They do some really interesting empirical studies up there.

If she still has front teeth. Some of these beach professionals are a bit long in the tooth.
