Elderly Woman Injured as Collapsed Gate Pins Her to the Ground
Picture from responders. An 85-year-old woman was injured when the front gate of her home collapsed on top of her in Thepharak, Mueang Samut Prakan District. The incident occurred at approximately 09:30 on 3 February, with the elderly woman being alone at home at the time. According to reports, the woman was opening her front gate when its rollers slipped out of the track, causing the heavy structure to topple over and pin her beneath it. The loud noise alerted neighbours, who rushed to the scene and found the victim trapped under the gate. Realising the severity of the situation, they called out for help from nearby residents, who worked together to lift the gate off the injured woman. Emergency services were immediately notified via the 1669 emergency hotline. Medics from Thepharak Rescue Unit arrived promptly and provided first aid before transporting the victim to Samut Prakan Hospital. She sustained a serious head wound and bruising across her whole body due to the impact of the falling gate and remains under medical supervision at the hospital. Authorities have urged homeowners to regularly inspect and maintain their gates and security systems to prevent similar incidents. -- 2025-02-04 -

Foreign motorcyclist flees Thailand after hit-and-run in Phuket - video
"As of now, police officers and relevant government officials have not yet clarified whether any charges have been issued against the foreigner." Any charges? Driving at speed, reckless driving, fighting with pedestrians, trying to run over the pedestrian again while fleeing the scene of accident, hit and run ... the list goes on. Not a good look for Thailand that the foreigner could so easily leave the country. Immigration should have been notified immediately and foreigner detained for questioning. -
