A foreign tourist has sparked outrage after being caught on video urinating in the middle of Phuket International Airport, seemingly unfazed by the presence of other passengers and airport staff.

The 13-second clip, which was shared widely on social media by the Facebook page “Hod Jung Phuket,” shows the tourist relieving himself openly inside the airport terminal in Mai Khao, Thalang district, despite being warned by officials. The post was captioned: “Quality tourist. No shame, no care. Urinating in Phuket Airport. Officials warned him, but he didn’t listen!”

The incident has provoked a wave of criticism online, with many Thai netizens expressing frustration over the lack of action against such behaviour. Comments on the post included:

    •    “If it were a Thai person, they’d have been arrested the moment they unzipped.”

    •    “They must think they can do anything in Thailand. Our laws only apply to locals.”

    •    “Free visas, free to do anything – even urinate in public!”

    •    “Why didn’t anyone stop him? Just standing and watching?”

    •    “He should be fined to set an example.”

The video has led to widespread calls for authorities to take strict action against the tourist, whose nationality remains unknown, with many demanding penalties to deter similar behaviour in the future.

Local officials have yet to confirm whether any legal action has been taken against the individual. The incident has reignited discussions on tourist conduct in Thailand.

Loads of low-class loosers (quack quack) from all countries polluting Thailand now.

Cheap flights, availability of drugs and ease of entry/long term stay all to blame.

But they don't apply to locals.

Where I live it is the Thais who drive their motorbikes in the wrong direction, on the pavement, without a helmet, while texting on their phones.

I see Thais openly breaking the law on a daily basis but I don't see any Thai netizens complaining about that.

And you are comparing this to urinating in the airport?

Huh,

Generally I am not a fan of direct action outside of th courts by law enforcement.

In this case a cosh to the head is called for.

How far to the nearest toilet and this "person" has to urinate against the wall.?

The tourism experience has been ruined by the visa free policy to the world. Absolutely shambolic disgusting type of tourists have entered the country.

It's harder for these countries to get into the African continent than getting into Thailand, which tells you the absurdity of the Sretta visa free panic policy.

Covid and the loss of tourism during that time has really left Thailand low in confidence, and just taking this <deleted> these disgusting tourists are behaving like utter pigs. THEY SIMPLY MUST REINSTATE VISA POLICIES TO THESE TOURISTS.

The constant references to "Visa free policy"  as being the reason for some incidents is both illogical and foolish. There is no visa free panic policy. Visitors are still subject to  visa requirements. You are  shifting personal responsibility from the  wrongdoers to a convenient third party, "government".  The  liberalization of the length of stay aspect of the visa  has made it much easier for the western winter refugees, and has had no impact on the long term visa holders. The Russians have qualified for Visa on Arrival  since 2002.  Prior to 2022, we never heard of any problems with the Russians. They were the model visitors, well behaved and low profile.

There have always been disorderly incidents.  When I was in Patong, it was the shoplifting and opportunistic theft. And before that were the drunken yobs of the UK and Australia. And before that were the thieving Europeans at the  BKK duty free shops.  And let's not forget the jumpers of Pattaya and at the BKK airport.

The person in this picture is most likely traveling on a UK, or EU passport and a reversion to the 30 day visa would not have changed anything.

What we are seeing now is result of the affordability of air travel and accommodations. It is also a direct result of the  erosion of social constraints around the world. The world post Covid is a very impolite and nasty place. The Russians flock to Thailand because, aside from  Egypt, Cuba and Turkey,  they are unwelcome elsewhere.

If you want to clear the troublemakers out, increase the cost of visiting Thailand by 20%. It will also clear out many of the people complaining about their fellow foreigners.  In any case the situation may  correct itself  shortly if the war in Ukraine ends, and if the world plunges into a worldwide recession courtesy of the looming tariff issues.

Not such a good idea after all his own urine won't bother him, maybe the bacteria and viruses on the ground, that is.

Huh,

I think it was obvious that he was comparing it to holding up foreigners obeying Thai laws but ignoring Thai law breakers, such as riding a motor bike without a helmet.

On the other hand, the same people from the African continent can enter Europe very easily, even without a passport, unlike the Thais, who have to go to all sorts of trouble and have someone vouch for them.
I haven't understood it for years.

Remember where you are. Those charges might literally not exist here. Bio Hazard? Walking down any given city street is a bio hazard. Except probably indecent exposure, which might instead be called public urinating or any number of variations.

While such actions are indefensible, there could be a Medical reason why this occurred including a very weak bl;adder withy the inability to retain.

Too often In  Large transportation hubs toilet facilities are a long way apart or very hard to find.
