 Broadly, the public sector vote mirrors the general public. I doubt the splits have changed all that much.  Some factors complicate the consideration. Some parts of the public sector have above average non-British participation. For instance, 20% in the NHS are not UK citizens, But in other areas, its basically zero due to SC restrictions. Some US studies indicate public sector workers are more likely to vote that private sector workers

The miners caused the election with blackouts etc then Wilson became PM in the early 70's then led the country to bankruptcy in 1976, then the country had to get bailed out by the IMF.

In terms of winning elections the Tories are head and shoulders the most successful political party in any democracy world wide.

 

In no small part due to their complete lack of principles beyond that of gaining power to take care of the rich.

I doubt that . Lib , Lab and Tory have had their day . There is growing unrest in the Western world with the catalyst being uncontrolled immigration . The UK needs radical repairs with no more slimy governments . Not only Tory voters defecting  to Reform but last year nearly 80,000 UK nationals emigrated , seeking a better quality of life , to be replaced by approx ; 1 million ,mostly non skilled people . UK emigrants would be made up from either skilled tradesmen , medics and professional business people .   In other words a brain drain . It is happening right now and will continue whilst the Labour government is in power . The UK is all but finished as a decent place to live and bring up a family .

Their fears are not unreasonable, it is muslims in the UK that practice honour killings, female genital mutilation, paedophilia, underage marriage and the subjugation of women. And the alarming number of Islamic terror attacks the UK has suffered adds further fear of this religious culture of hate.

 

The recent exposure of 50 or more muslim rape gangs, and 85 or more Sharia councils has alarmed millions in the UK, and with neither the Conservative party, or Labour, willing, or able, to do anything about it, people are turning to Reform in droves.

 

Despite 4 million votes at the last election, it is easy for some to dismiss Reform, but things can change quickly once people awaken to the intrinsic danger facing them.

 

Just a couple of years ago it would have been laughable to suggest that the AfD in Germany, and the National Rally in France, could achieve such popularity, and even be on the brink of coming to power.

 

Europe is finally awaking to the danger, Italy has already, and being followed by Belgium, France, Austria, Germany and Portugal. Many were employed by agencies or working for foreign companies that only employed their own countrymen . 

Much of this foreign labour claimed to be skilled tradesmen but in reality they were cowboys . They came to the UK and worked for smaller money than the local labour . I know of one UK employment agency that set up an office in Poland . The Polish labour were undercutting local UK wages and there were cases where some local UK labour were out of work because of the mass of foreign workers . One of the reasons that Brexit won . Local labour had mortgages to pay etc , the Polish lived in cheap accommodation but were happy because they were earning 3 or 4 times the salary they were paid in Poland .

I believe that the views of Eloquent Pilgrim are held by the majority of the indigenous UK public .

Starmer is running scared to the extent of messing with local councils , thus delaying many by elections in May , knowing full well Labour would lose many at the expense of the Reform party .

Changing the local councils way of running is to gain control of planning which will result in massive uproar and opposition from the UK population . Rayner is promising 1.5 million new homes within the 5 year tenure of this unpopular government . These homes will be built in not only in towns but also rural villages .  These homes will be a mix of houses and flats that will also be used to house many immigrants .

Of course there has always been immigration and emigration. The issue IMO is that the mismanagement of Immigration policy by successive governments. That ineptitude has only been exaggerated by the woke reaction to handling the illegal immigrants.

 

 

It has all got out of control; can you imagine Thailand having a city that is 60% occupied by non-indigenous Thais? The demographic imbalance will inevitably result in a significant increase in emigration. So. as immigration increases (particularly illegals) so too will emigration.

 

The result will be in line with what a London cabbie told me over 40 years ago  -  "The English will be a minority in England within 50 years".
