Trip Report Chaeng Wattana - 14 Feb 2025 - Retirement Extension

Featured Replies

Retirement extension - 800k method
- fixed account - topped up to 800k permanently at Bangkok Bank
- TM30 - I am a condo owner, filed TM30 back in 2019
- TM47 is current

Prepared the following documents before my immigration visit
- TM7 (request for extension)
- Appointment notification printout
- Bank letter obtained the day before
- Condo Map
- TM47 - 90 days receipt

Arrived Immigration Chaeng Wattana at 09:30 (10:00 appointment)

First stop - basement floor, bank photo and copys
- update bank book with balance forward

- Current photo (100 Baht)
- Copy of passport - ID page, original extension, most recent extension
- Copy of bank book (cover page and last year activity)

Second stop - documents check counter (09:50)
- provided the documents listed above
- signed a couple of forms they provided then proceeded to renewal counter

Last stop - renewal counter 10:00, appointment queue number was displayed there
- signed a few more documents - done by 10:25
- Passport returned at 10:45

Only deviation from last year is they did not want my TM47 receipt.

No 12 month Bank statement? (Not the book)

They never ask me for a statement - I guess it because of the type of account.
There is no access to the account without the book.

As a side note:
I did obtain a 12 month statement when they started asking for them some number of years ago (maybe 6).   But they never asked me for it so I stopped getting one.  Maybe this will come back to haunt me in some future trip. :shock1:

First up thanks for report. Very clear.

Myself likewise re TM47. Few years previously the doc check girls wanted it.

Last extension did not.

Re bank statement... fact that you have an FD account you should not require bank statement.

So you did not make deposit into the FD account.

Correct, I did not make a deposit to the account.

When I visit the bank to get the letter, I request a B/F (balance forward) entry in the book to match the balance/date in the letter and then again on the day of renewal.

So no hand drawn map to house, or google map to house?

I'm sorry that you could not work out that a "Condo Map" is a map to my place of residence.

How do you make an appointment at Chaeng Wattana for Non- O visa renewal?  Could you please share a trick?  Thanks.

I do not have a fixed account, and I have never had to provide a statement.

I just transfer some interest out the morning I go, and update the book using the machine.

Try

https://www.immigration.go.th/#serviceonline

If you are in Bangkok,  try

https://gov.immigration1.queueonline.net/appointment/login.html?v35

It sometimes works, not very intuitively though

The old link used to be

https://www.immigration.go.th/?page_id=20131

It's not working.

This is the link: https://gov.immigration1.queueonline.net/appointment/login.html?v35

I used it a couple of days ago (first time using it) as I need a CoR to renew my driver's license. Booked appointment for 11.30am, arrived at 11.25am as the traffic was horrendous on Tuesday morning. Went to info counter, they told me to go straight to desk 64. At 11.30am on the dot the number at desk 64 displayed my number. Took 2-3 minutes including payment and receipt and I was out by 11.34am. Amazing. I will never ever go to CW for anything without an appointment ever again.

I think it was @DrJack54 who first notified me of the online appointment system when I moaned about my first (and only) 90 day report taking six hours - I had no idea it existed before.

Has "transferring an extension to a new passport" been added to the appointment list for CW?  Last time I tried, it wasn't available.

No appointment for transferring stamps etc.

You will be directed to L32-35 desks

Good report and appreciated. Does anyone have a recent report for documents required at CW for a first extension of the O Visa (retirement)? Trying to figure out if there are any differences required between the first one and subsequent extension applications. Cheers.

The only difference is what you need to show for financial requirements.

For first extension only need to show 800k in Thai bank account seasoned for 2 months.

Immigration should accept your bankbook photocopies.

Other requirements are the same as ongoing extension reports.

Edit: after you obtain the extension please report your experience.

In particular what was required for proof of address.

My first ever extension I had a lease. Not TM30.

Guessing you plan on providing TM30 minimum

  • 9 months later...

Perhaps DrJack54 can answer this .. I will be applying for my second extention of stay renewal (Retirement visa) at CW. It expires Jan 08. I was late booking an appointment so could only get Jan 06. Is that ok? Just want to make sure I am not required to apply two weeks before it expires? Thanks!

No requirement to apply 2 weeks in advance for an extension.  I've done it myself just a couple of days before it expires.

You can still keep a close eye on the appointments, sometimes a time slot opens up.  You might get lucky if you're looking to reschedule for an earlier date.

Just to reinforce what expat_4_life said, don't worry.

I had to do an urgent trip out of the country this year and could only do mine one day before expiry. It wasn't even mentioned.

The only reason to worry is if they flag any documents that you are missing or need updating - it gets a bit more stressful then. But as this is your second one you know what's needed so should be fine.
