What's the law here regarding cannabis use. I get you can buy it, but can you just smoke it openly anywhere you want ?

 

I am sick and tired to the chore of tourists just smoking it around everywhere. I'm walking with family, and you get these morons standing on a pavement just exhaling it of their mouths. Yeah we get it you hip, you are on holiday, but have some respect. Bad enough having to inhale black diesel smoke from those red public busses, then have to walk past these tourists. 

 

Is there no enforcement here on smoking marijuana in public ?

Stay away from the main tourist corridors in Bangkok like Sukhumvit, or any of the other nightlife areas, and you'll never smell it in the streets again. DONE.

AFAIK smoking cannabis in public remains illegal.

 

Of course, not all laws are enforced here.

 

You should probably file a police report if you feel like you've been a victim.

Obviously, the air quality is a much more serious health problem.

 

 

Well it is legal now, I like the sweet smell of ganga.

Much better than when they cook Pad Krapaow which makes many people start coughing.

As a lifelong cannabis user I can honestly say I have never had the urge to smoke a joint whilst standing on a street corner or walking about .   I genuinely don't understand why they do that

Personally I'm not much bothered by people smoking in public. Having said that I far prefer the smell of cannabis smoke to the smell of cigarette smoke.

According to news reports at the time that weed was decriminalized, smoking it in public is considered a violation of "public nuisance" laws.

I live between a Thai chip shop that occasionally stinks of frying pig offal and a noisy printshop shrouded in gasoline fumes.

 

Modified bikes, noisy trucks, gobby whores and construction noise. 

 

No amount of weed aroma can compete.

The law is, in fact, the same law that prohibits smoking tobacco or anything else in a public place, if it is causing a nuisance to anyone.  You have to make the complaint that it caused a nuisance to you for police to take action. There is no specific law that prohibits smoking cannabis in a public place, despite assertions by police and government officials to the contrary.  They say that just to scare people but cannot cite a cannabis specific law.

i smell it almost every day at some point.

I smoke in public all the time in a discreet and adult fashion. You wouldn't even know I was smoking except for the sweet Aroma billowing in my wake. The other night, I was even ripping in a club on Pub Street and weed is totally illegal here.

 

I like to sit on the steps of the ruamchitt and rip a few before I go down to terme. Obviously, you can smoke in Nana at the beer bar.

 

Pro tip: Grav 9mm Glass taster, pack, rip, move. You can do that in the walkway between MBK and Siam it's so discrete.

I have no idea why people actually buy cannabis here in Pattaya because you can get stoned just walking down the road and smelling the stuff waffing out of every second shop, or from the joints from those walking along.

 

I'm not against the smell, but I'm not sure young kids should be 'partaking'.

In the short term it's a safe drug. But prolonged use, especially the stronger stuff, and you see effects on people. It definately leeds to bad behaviour. 

I smoke it next to the police booths all over bkk. Then a  police guy will come out and sneak a few puffs of his vape.
