It doesn't matter, anyway. The Ukrainian constitution forbids to hold election when the country is under martial law.

Deflect, deflect, deflect!

Cancel martial law, then hold a (s)election.

Surely all those conscripted autistic teens and crippled elderly will stay at their posts once the nazis aiming machine guns at their backs leave their positions covering the expendables to vote.

If he was that popular he'd call an election so could be a legitimate leader. Why do the American left fall so hard for clumsy propaganda?

  • Then he should have no problems with holding elections.  But he does have a problem with elections, so he's a de-facto dictators because his term is up.  So the constant effort to pose him as "popular

Magnificent topic and well sourced. Has anyone seen this on MSNBC or The View yet? If not it won't be long. "Zelenskyy's popularity surges". Must be true.

But they've already been invaded and bombed.

Won't make much difference, then.

Not deflect at all. Just stressing how pathetic you are, grasping at straws in a lame attempt to support Putin's/Trump's propaganda!

Not saying that about Trump

Little Donnie is doing a great job of running the US.......into the ground.
According to the most recent Gallup poll, his overall approval rating is 45%.  Since Gallup has been doing polls, this is the lowest approval rate in February for the start of a term, of any president since 1953.  Wow, Mr Popular.  Guess people aren't interested in puffy things like, renaming the Gulf of Mexico, or whether they are getting plastic straws.  Just maybe they are more interested in inflation, which went up in February and which he guaranteed to fix on taking office but no longer talks about.  Can't wait for the March poll, wonder if he could get it down to under 40%.  He likes being the best at things, lets hope he can be the best at this.

Give it a couple more months, when the mass sackings and BS savings have medical care and social security grinding to a halt.

Even the poorest MAGA adherent will understand, when their welfare payments are no longer coming.

Typically. every time you have a layoff, productivity jumps, often quite a lot.

it's not bs savings. the savings are REAL.

In the same way that raising taxes generates more revenue, just tax everyone at 100% and we can balance the budget.

The USA was under existential threat from the Axis in the '40s and we still held elections.

Are you claiming the guy who declared martial law is capable of holding off elections as long as he wishes?   And that's okay?

In recent history, they referred to that guy as Fuhrer.  I wonder what the Ukrainian translation is.

The USA was not being bombarded daily.

The USA did not have 20%+ of its  nation occupied.

The USA only  became actively involved in the war in late 1942.

The US election in November 1944  took place when  the Axis was on the verge of defeat. There was no existential threat to the USA as the Axis were  incapable of  doing damage to the continental USA by that time.

Ukrainian legislation directly prohibits holding elections under martial law. Even if it did allow them, dozens of unsolvable practical and security issues would render it literally impossible to ensure a fair electoral process in the circumstances of a total war.

- 700,000+ Ukrainians are deployed in the war zone. How would they vote?

- 8 million+ or 20% of the population has left Ukraine  to love elsewhere temporarily. How would they vote?

- Would Ukrainians in occupied Ukraine be able to participate in the election?

Please get some new talking points from  MAGA/Kremlin.

America was never under existential threat. That is a fantasy.

The UK never had an election for 10 years due to WW2. Churchill was no dictator. An election was held once the UK  knew that Adolf One-<deleted> Hitler had blown his brains out. If Putin would honour us with the same, I'm sure would be delighted to hold elections.

Of course US leaders before have wanted elections canceled or suspended.

Yes, who would support someone getting killed just for going out to vote.

That's what you have been told to believe.

IME, what happens is the best and brightest leave, to start up their own businesses, or get hired back as contractors when the organization realizes it has lost institutional memory.

In the meantime, the office politicians and clock-watchers ramp up their efforts to keep their jobs, with an impression of great activity. They then relax back into climbing the ladder, or torpor.

Nobody ever goes back one or two years later to verify whether the savings are real.

You are quite right, many people don't understand what's going on around them.

I was given a compendium of Poe's short stories when I was about ten years old. IIRC illustrations by Arthur Rackham.

I thought the stories were terribly gloomy and morbid, coming from a tortured soul.

I am still baffled why the gift was thought suitable for a kid my age.

It's good you didnt turn into a mass murderer after reading Poe at the age of 10.

Most kids minds would have been warped.
