In a dramatic sting operation, Khon Kaen police dismantled an alleged prostitution ring operating out of a local hotel. Early this morning, officers arrested a 39-year-old woman identified only as Naree, accused of arranging illicit meetups through social media.

The operation, led by Police Colonel Phonsak Ngamdee, followed a tip-off about online solicitation. The suspect's social media account, “Accepting work in Khon Kaen,” openly advertised sexual services.

Undercover officers posed as clients, negotiating a 1,500 baht fee via the LINE app. When Naree entered a hotel room and accepted the money, she was arrested, and evidence, including a mobile phone and cash, was seized.

Col. Ngamdee emphasized swift action following community complaints, stating, “Our officers effectively executed the operation to bring justice.”

Naree faces charges for facilitating prostitution through online advertising. The legal process is underway at the Khon Kaen City Police Station, reported The Thaiger.

Where are the posters now who always claim that accepting money in exchange for sex isn't illegal in Thailand, since it isn't prostitution.

"When Naree entered a hotel room and accepted the money, she was arrested"

Did Naree entered the hotel room draped with a towel?
Maybe Naree took a shower outside the hotel room first?
Confusing ....

Doesn't look like a scam ,just making a living serving the community.

If This is the way... then the police will need to shut down almost 95% of the thais venues...

For me it's more a brown envelope issue than anything else...

She possibly gave lousy service to some dude so he called it in.

Possibly some locals thought she was too blatant and it might affect reputations.  Nobody seems to care as long as it is kept on the quiet.

She most likely forgot,  to kick some money up the hill.

My Buddha! There's prostitution in Thailand, who would have believed it? lol

Yeah!  Reminds me of an episode of The Wire where Detective Jimmy McNulty 'enjoys' entrapping a sex worker a bit too much!
