Also part of the BRAT diet (Bananas, rice, apples and toast), which helps with stomach problems like diarrhea. I only ate bananas once in a while until I got H Pylori here that hurt my gut microbiota with the treatment. Now I eat one almost daily with oatmeal or other whole grain cereals.

For breakfast I normally eat 2 bananas plus either 1/2 an apple, mango, part of a melon depending on its size, sliced pineapple or other fruit and a 15 baht yoghurt, and that does me until lunchtime. My wife normally buys me a "hand" of bananas at the local market. The one from Monday afternoon market had 14 bananas and cost 40 baht. The number and price depends on the number and the size of the bananas.

 

I am not on any diet, but I just eat less. After a wile I simply can't eat as much as I used to.

They have  quite a few different types of bananas here, which I like, as the US usually only has the one. Some I buy here are really creamy and sweet, the medium to large size. The small finger bananas are okay but not as good as the others.  One thing abut here is that fruit is usually pretty inexpensive, besides the Durian. I always loved fruit but eat it more here than I did back in Texas, although all fruits were available there. I always have oatmeal unless I find decent whole grain cereals here, which isn't easy where I live. When I visit home I bring back a few boxes but they don't last long. Cereal with fruit is a good start for the day, as is Yogurt.

TBH I can't be bothered with dried or frozen bananas in a smoothie. Too much hassle.

  As for cycling, at 80 I have enough problems walking 50 metres using a walking stick as I have osteo arthritis in both knees and a buggered up back.

Banana smoothies are really nice, worth the effort, the thicker it is the more like ice cream

1-2 ripe large farang type bananas frozen

Soy milk 300ml or less so it's thicker

Blend.

Sometimes i add Cocoa or Cacao

This morning I ate half  a small melon along with some strawberries that my wife cut up and put in the fridge, along with a yoghurt. I weighed myself as usual and I have lost anoyjer 600g. That will be 2,4kg I have lost this month.

Yes much healthier than ice cream as low fat, i blend with Soy milk but dairy milk would be really good also, I've started adding ginger to my smoothies and it definitely gives an edge
