A flight Krabi and a Boat across the Raiyleh beach is often a good option, as is a flight to Krabi and a cheap car hire to Koh Lanta

Now you're talking.  Weird thing about Krabi is there's at least 8 Dim Sum places, one of which is very popular with the locals and a pretty good nosh for the price.  We walked from Railay beach to the incredible penis cave beach, definitely the most beautiful beach I've seen in Thailand, so far.

I don't understand why Bangkok doesn't develop the beach just south of Bangkok.  Whenever I fly to Suvarnabhumi from up North they usually overfly Bangkok out to the ocean and make a U-turn to land @ BKK.  Maybe too much flight noise doing just that?!?

Hua Hin Airport is one of the least utilized airports in Thailand, possibly even in the world. Shame on these guys. They can do so much better. Thailand desperately needs more regional airports, espec

  • It you're flying you need to leavea minimum of 4 to 5 hours before departure - depending on road works, etc.   I've been hopping over to and from Cambodia a few times recently and the 'airpo

I think you have no idea. I prefer northern food and in Hua Hin there's 1 good north style restaurant which charges double for everything. The best cheap food was in a mall. Dollyfish is junk btw. Udo

Only an idiot would drive from HH to BKK same day to catch a flight unless its a night flight.

Why?  Just leave extra early.  I've done this at least 20 times and each time I always got to the airport hours early.

Sorry!

I didn't realize you were a fool who rides a motorcycle from HH to BKK.

Where do you park your motorcycle at the airport? What's the maximum time you can park there? And how much does that cost? Sounds like you got everything figured out.  Riding in-between cars in heavy traffic.  Yeah, I've seen that in California, too.  One unexpected lane change by one car and it's bye bye. "Legal, but not advisable". Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.  Cheers. 😀

We never discussed about that subject. Now you changed subject, just because you realized you were wrong on the main subject.

However, if I drive motorbike from Chiang Mai to Phuket? How does that make me an idiot? You can park until you come back, as long as you are able to pay in some way. If you know how long time you will be gone, you can just park your motorbike and pay 70 baht per day for long term parking.

Everything else, just has to do with experience. If your opinion is that you should not do, then just refrain from that. I have been driving cars, lorry´s and riding motorbikes for more than 25 years in Thailand. Not an accident.

There's a train to Hua Hin. Krabi has been ruined by tourism.

But unfortunately most of the trains have no AC, and are they slower than driving.

Also doesn't make sense if you arrive and want to go straight from the airport to Hua Hin--the train would at least double your total travel time vs a direct car transfer.

The are buses from BKK to Hua Hin, but I personally just prefer a private car.

I like Bangkok. Hua Hin is pretty dull.

I like it dull and peaceful.

The whole idea of riding motorcycles in Thailand to travel is a very toxic topic.

Personally, i have ridden a lot of miles here without a problem but i would probably be classed as an experienced rider, i got my first bike at age 7 and have ridden all my life in a few different countries.

Back to topic, i personally have travelled from Sukhimvit Soi 42 to Lom's bar on the esplanade in Prachuap Khiri Khan in 2.5 hours, for the unfamiliar with the area, that is 100 kilometers past Hua Hin.

That was on a motorcycle, and for those who call BS. there owner of the shop i was at in BKK will back me up as he has been trying to match that time for a while now......555.

So, in a nutshell, Hua Hin Is not that far.

I would agree.  I find it usually takes 3 hours or less to Bangkok.  I think those who are complaining it's so far are choosing to travel during peak times.  If you just avoid the obvious weekend or rush hour traffic, there is usually not much of a delay due to traffic.
