Thai immigration police have arrested two Nigerian nationals in a Bangkok condominium for their alleged involvement in an international cocaine smuggling operation linked to a Thai woman recently detained in Japan.

On 4 March 2025, senior officials, including Immigration Bureau Commissioner Lt. Gen. Panumat Boonyalug, ordered a team to search a condominium in the Ram Inthra area of Bangkok.

The operation led to the arrest of Mr. Ihejimba Bright Chimezie and Mr. Azubuike Chidiebere David, both Nigerian citizens, who were charged with overstaying their visas.

The investigation was launched after Japanese authorities detained a Thai woman who had ingested 59 packets of cocaine weighing approximately 700 grammes, valued at around 2.1 million baht, in an attempt to smuggle the drugs into Japan.

Further inquiries revealed her association with the Nigerian suspects, raising suspicions of their involvement in drug trafficking activities.

Thai police collaborated with the Office of the Narcotics Control Board and Japan's Immigration Bureau to trace the activities of the Nigerian duo in Thailand. Following their arrest, legal proceedings have commenced, and efforts to uncover further drug-related offences are underway, reported Daily News.

He lied to you. He’s already sent the cheque to me. I’ve got the photo. Just paid 100k to Bahamas customs to have it released.

Oh, I'm so sorry to see them in jail.

Ain't no sunshine anymore 😳

Zero empathy here. Hope they like sharing small spaces with lots of people for a long time.

Sukhumvit Soi 11 is notorious for this type of activity and needs to be cleaned up!!

Why? They pay to operate the business.

Soi 11 has been blissfully free of these rodents for the last few weeks.

I doubt theres a single legitimate tourist from Nigeria in all of Thailand. The Thai government puts up with their nonsense because these African countries are the biggest purchasers of their rice.

So these geniuses thought that a Thai woman, travelling solo into Japan, would not raise suspicions with every Japanese Customs officer she encounters?

I went for a walk last night, and there weren't many, but i saw a couple.

What kills me is they chased away the vape sellers

Just go to sukhumvit road from soi 13 to Nana, you could round up loads from Nigeria, Ghana. Sierra leone, but who is paying the police? Every time the police do a sweep of the area there is no Africans to be seen. So someone is warning them. Also the growing number of African prostitutes. Puts people off going there

It’s not fair to generalise as I know that I would be an exemption, despite always being found in Pattaya.

Sounds like they only arrested them for overstaying, as they didn't catch them with any illegal dope.  They will just be deported, if there is insufficient evidence against them.

Congratulation to Thai Police Officers on the successful arrest of the criminal.
