In defiance of Trump, I think Nato should put troops on the ground in Ukraine.

I am sure many would support Trump to negotiate an end to this war if they thought he would do so in good faith and to support the western standpoint BUT he has displayed an amazing empathy for the invading Russians and total betrayal of the opinions of other western powers supporting Ukraine.

I read an interesting article that Turkey has reached out to both Russia and Ukraine to attempt to solve this matter. Turkey has shown  total independence throughout this war by supplying arms to Ukraine while still maintaining a relationship with Russia, quite a unique scenario. He does not appear fazed by Trump, his DEI appointment Hegseth who displayed his brilliance prior to the first meeting held in an arab state and that excluded Ukranian representation.

I think you have that statement back to front;  it should IMO read; "Zelensky is on the cusp of losing the entire country because of Trump's and Vance's tantrum with/against him".

What is your claim that "he has displayed an amazing empathy for the invading Russians and total betrayal of the opinions of other western powers supporting Ukraine." based on?

I think the UN should be relocated to Turkey.

The Don knows the US started the conflict. Maybe he is just trying to put things right.

As a Brit can one of you Americans inform me which unit of the American service did Trump serve in and for how long.

he got his dad's doctor to say he had heel spurs so he was declared 4f meaning he was unfit for military service.  Then he went on to college where he played in all the sports guess his heel spurs only exempted him from military service which didn't exempt all those with heel spurs. Biden too was exempt as he had asthma.  Two really great American patriots (not).

And both Biden and Clinton were draft dodgers, and Tim Walz abandoned his unit when they went to combat.

Yes, the bone-spurs thing is shameful, but why it only a concern when it's Trump?

I had heel spurs too, I wasn't exempt, in fact the draft board contacted me about 2 months after I had spent 4 years in the military, including 2 years in VN.  I played sports in HS too with the heel spurs and never considered that it should be a means of avoiding military service, unlike Trump.

You can be a Patriot without having served.

I served and I don't care that they got exemptions, neither do most enlisted. If someone doesn't want to be there, I don't want them on my squad. Good way to get killed

Lol, typical Italian thinking, trying to circumvent the rules. Such a guarantee would be tantamount to giving Ukraine NATO membership and therefore would prevent any deal to end the war. Every idiot can see this. More Euro drivel to lick the boots of Ukraine that is about as irrelevant as anything else that comes out of Europe. It will never happen.

Anyone who thinks this is a viable option needs to seek medical help.

absolute nonsense.

anyone doing whatever they can to avoid serving to me is shameful! but I bet more rich kids avoided the draft than poor ones but one will never see those figures.

The Russians have not risked their air force much but most of their tactics favour the use of long range missiles and drones, anyway.

Stupid russian tactics, right?  Another sign they're losing?

Or just no need to risk aircraft against western wunder waffle air defenses if they don't have to.

Why fly your planes directly over an air defense site if you have glide bombs that will do the job without risking pilots/planes?

If Ukraine falls, where will the Russian advance stop?

If ethnic cleansing of the Donbass never begins, when will the Russian advance start?

Gosh, we've been moving NATO closer and closer for decades, and Russia just sits there, minding its own business. "Not an inch to the east!~"  Haha, silly Russians use metric, they don't know what an inch is.

Hey!  Let's overthrow Ukraine!  Then we can get Russia thrown out of Sevastopol, and then Kiev can cleanse the eastern provinces.

What could go wrong!

Didn't stop him from "serving" as a cadet captain in ROTC at New York Military Academy where he was on the Varsity baseball, soccer and football teams.

Trump won the Proficient Cadet award for two years running and Honor Cadet for four years running too.

For two years in a row he also won the Neatness and Order medal.

Under the 'Popularity Poll' section of the yearbook, Trump was nominated as the 'Ladies Man' of the year

"Chicks dig the uniform, man!  They practically LET you do it!"

Though Robert Biden served in Iraq. Neither of the American President's adult sons have ever served their country. His youngest son holds dual Slovenian citizenship; its notabl that he declined ti renounce this citizenship when he came of age. While Slovenia abolished conscription, the government is currently reviewing that decision, given its current recruitment goals. American dual nationals are liable to overseas miitary service.

Who the heck is Robert Biden?

I never said he was. Why are you intent on causing an argument with purile childish spelling. Plus you have deliberately broken forum rules by using the name "Bob". No one called him Bob. He was kn own as Robert or Beau. Clearly, you are attempting to mock. Forum rules broken, as has been pointed, correctly, to me.

Beau was not known as "Robert" by anyone.    His full name was Joseph Robinette Biden (but everyone knew him as Nancy, err, sorry, Beau).

Hunter's first name is Robert, however.

Yes, I agree...

This is the sort of spin that Trump and his supporters are known for—they often try to portray Trump as a victim of unfair treatment and attacks, regardless of the reality of the situation. Misinformation and “alternative facts” can lead to mistrust in institutions, polarization, and even real-world consequences. We’re not talking about clinical insanity, but rather a kind of collective derangement that can grip a nation. In that sense, it’s a kind of madness. Some might call it “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” where Trump’s supporters are so blind to the truth, they’re willing to believe anything he says, even when there’s clear evidence to the contrary.

Seek some help.

Regardless of that, Zelensky got kicked out of the W H and is now grovelling to Trump to let him sign the minerals deal.

:cheesy:

Zelensky is no different from Churchill ("We will fight them on the beaches, etc.") People who give up, lose.

Do you support continuing the war and the US throwing billions more $ at it, or do you want an end to the killing?

Anyway, unless the Euros can replace the US intelligence contribution it's likely that Ukraine will start losing even more than they are already. If Musk ends his satellite cover that would likely be game over.

It is NOT an either or question.

Of course the war MUST stop but NOT by capitulation to an aggressor.

Might push him to push buttons too. Boom. Oops. Great idea!

Maybe, but. General Westmoreland wanted nuclear weapons sent to South Vietnam in the event of a defeat at the war's bloodiest battle, though President Johnson axed the operation. Gen. MacArthur asked the Joint Chief of Staffs for nuclear weapons during the Korean War.

Sometimes things don't happen.
