I know nothing about marketing, advertising and the cost of "celebrity endorsements" for cars, and specifically electric cars, in the US market. Bear in mind it is a very large market, 300 million plus people, 278 million registered vehicles

 

Purely coincidentally, Elon Musk reportedly donated 100 million dollars to Mr Trumps political campaign funds, and purely coincidentally his electric car brand received some remarkable advertising and endorsement from the countries No1 car salesmen on the White House Lawn yesterday.

 

Is $100 million a fair price for that exposure - let us not consider that he will likely get it back in tax breaks and personal tax cuts!

Well, I guess it depends on how you feel about hypocrisy, for one thing. And yes it is wrong if he promotes just one company and not an industry. And it's obviously unethical for Trump to be using his office to boost the financial fortunes of a partisan.

Never has a politician been so unethical on such a massive scale. The Trump memecoin episode alone is remarkable. In effect, it makes bribery completely undetectable.

He's backing a dude building EVs who just donated 100 million dollars to his war chest. If he wants to back EVs, ;then he should back all the domestically manufactured ones. And didn't he call these manufacturers "thugs" in his Xmas message?
