The incident, which occurred on 15th March at Thammasat University's Rangsit Centre in Pathum Thani province, quickly gained traction on social media, sparking public outcry. The Administrative Court's office addressed these concerns in a statement today, reassuring the public that, despite the breach, no examination content was leaked. The erring candidate had attempted to smuggle documents containing legal provisions into the exam room. However, the documents did not include any answers to the actual exam questions. Recognising the severity of the incident, the Royal Thai Police has taken decisive action. Police Lieutenant General Achyan Kraithong reported that the colonel, serving as Deputy Commander in Provincial Police Region 8 and recently attached to ISOC Region 4, is under investigation. Upon discovery, the Administrative Court contacted local police to initiate a probe, collecting evidence and taking the officer's statement. The National Police Commissioner, Police General Kittirath Phanphat, stressed the seriousness of the breach, ordering both a criminal and disciplinary inquiry. If found guilty, the colonel could face suspension or removal under the Police Act of 2022, Section 112 (6), a serious violation impacting the force's integrity. Furthermore, the circumstances around the officer's assignment to ISOC Region 4 and absence from the original unit will be scrutinised. The National Police Commissioner has declared zero tolerance for such misconduct, promising swift action to prevent similar breaches in the future, reported The Thaiger. -- 2025-03-17 2

biggles45 Posted March 18 Posted March 18 I would have thought that his actions make him well qualified for the job. He probably couldn't find the right person to pay off as he did for his previous promotions. The story will disappear into the journalistic black hole and he will be fine. 1
Chris Renaix Posted March 18 Posted March 18 It's all a misunderstanding! He overslept and while grabbing his stuff blindly to arrive on time, he thought he grabbed his lunchbox, but it was a summary list of the course material instead. Do not worry, it won't happen again...
Paul Henry Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Move him to inactive duties! Which really means put him in traffic control.
Popular Post JBChiangRai Posted March 18 Popular Post Posted March 18 You have to understand the way promotion works in the police force. A new recruit is given a target of how much he has to pass up the chain of command. Anything he extorts more than that is his to keep. If he decides not to play the game then he is seldom promoted. This means all the guys a few rungs up the ladder played the game. QED all promoted police are corrupt. It’s an impossible situation to fix. How do you fix something where around 90% or more of them are systemically corrupt? 2 1

chondan Posted March 18 Posted March 18 I have never seen a Thai teacher give an F to a Thai student caught cheating. I was told to not give an F to any student, no matter what reason. Some students did not attend my class all year. I let my Thai counterpart teacher give the grade. Guess the grade the student got?
black tabby12345 Posted March 18 Posted March 18 No real surprise. As the corruption and wrongdoings are so Institutionalized here. Just a few days ago, we have heard this... Ex-finance minister exposes Phuket police extortion | Thaiger Still, at least, Thailand got a better media freedom than Burma and N/Korea. As that can make a headline...

Wealthy families already have the money to buy further promotions for their scion (Is this just a twist on the corruption you detailed?) Mentors and Patrons who are high up in the police can give a leg up to those younger and lower. (The trick is for the client or client's family to have or develop the right connections) Some areas as seen as too important for national security to have incompetent officers in charge. (Competent and corrupt are not mutually exclusive though). It seems odd for a police colonel to switch careers to a judge. However we don't know his role in the police. It may be a thing in Thailand too.
