That's right, but recently it became rather outmoded.

 

Actually, It could probably be traced to the Vietnam war, and was also fueled by CIA's operations in Latin America, in particular in Chile. The invasion of Irak was probably the latest significant event. Then it tended to fade away as the U.S. was becoming less imperialist, and also because the influence of Marxism on the Western Europe's political scene also faded away.

 

I tend to think it's generational. Young people don't care any more about it and are rather attracted by American music, tv shows, tec, etc... Of course, Trump is now triggering a new rise of anti-Americanism
