Buy a cage trap from the local market. Catch the critter and release outside.

  • Same for me, a glue board, or a standard mousetrap, then you will see the body and have a confirmed kill.    Better than a slow death, and a body you can't find that's stinking the place out

But you must drive them a few kilometers away, else they find the way back.

my wife bought some poison pellets - is this the best way?

Only if you want to kill other pets or kids.  They have live trap as well as Mouse Paper which is sorta like Fly Paper only for mice.  I have a cat.  He does a great job when the dogs miss them on the outside perimeter.

I've got one of these.  They work great.  Take the mouse to the forest.  Good karma for you.  You can find them on Shopee and Lazada.

Mine works great.  Well, most of the time.  Gotta get your daytime Zzzzzzz to be in top form for nighttime hunts.

The mouse is usually still alive and stuck to the board , then you have to kill the mouse yourself or leave it to starve stuck to the board .

   Glue boards are horrible things

Yeah, poison pellets are sorta instant karma.  The critter disappears in some crevice in you house and stinks the whole place up.
Then you're reminded that poison is a suckola way to die.  Final revenge.  Decaying body somewhere that you can't identify. Dead jing-joes are bad enough.

Or a snake they eat rats bugs and lizards too and they're more lovable they like nothing more than sneaking into bed with you at night.

I dunno.

Having your feet stuck in concrete and then slowly dying of thirst doesn't sound like a quick and painless death.  Unless you chew your feet off to escape, and then die of blood loss.

But that's just me.

Either way, just to know it's dead for me, is the most important thing.

But yes, sure, the quicker the better in an ideal world.

Anyway OP, it would be your conscience as to the method, we can only suggest the options.

Can I ask, if this was about rats, would people care less about the method?

Better still is to install them in the entrance to the oval office, keep Trump and his acolytes inside, and cut off all communication to the outside world.

Mice and Rats  get lots out in the sticks

Here is no difference than UK, France & Portugal also lived out in the sticks.

Use the cage, always have 3 set,  you hear when you get one, if it is not one then easy to let out.  Drop in a bucket of water quick death.

Against the pellets and the glue, is a slow death + maybe another animal get stuck or eats the pellets.  + where will they die ? follow the smell in 2 days sure to be in a difficult place to get to

for the past 21 years living here catch at least 2+  a week.

Homing mice are a real problem.

Try blindfolding them on the trip out.

Indeed, you might only see one at a time but where there's one there's always and without exception many more

Drop in a bucket of water quick

During COVID rats in Bangkok started coming into my outdoor kitchen because the street vendors were gone. I caught one huge bastard in a "humane" trap.

dropped in a bucket of water and the thing hard the strength to overturn the bucket with his struggles. i had to refill a larger tub, put a cinderblock on top of it and try again.
