Thai Restaurant Sparks Outrage with Controversial 'Skinny Discount'

I think the idea was being used in some places in Japan some time ago as well as China.

And you notice it's not the skinny people who whine about it ?

It's the obese people who think they should also get a discount so they can eat more for less.

I wish this would happen. Obese people make the passenger(s) beside them suffer for the whole (short-/long-haul) journey. I'd like to see them stuffed beside each other. Four in a row of four seats. Maybe then they'll think about eating just 1 hamburger a day instead of (10).

I sat next to a Texas college football player he was sitting in the middle on about an hour and a half flight to DFW Dallas/Fort Worth.  His shoulders were so wide you would think he was wearing shoulder pads.  Dude was really nice and actually sat leaning forward for about the whole flight to not impact his seat mates.  Thanked him many times.

I did not know that Chiang Mai has only one restaurant ......

If you have a problem with this concept, then vote with your feet and go elsewhere - the choice is yours.

 Worms...

not worms , my Thai partner is knee high to a grasshopper weighs 43 klgs  and the appetite of an elephant , Thais seem to eat constantly but due to their incredible  metabolism their body burns up the fat quicker than the food can reach their stomachs or butts 😛

They would loose money when a friend of mine goes to Chiang Mai.

She is 40 ish kilos.

Eats more then me and her husband put together.

Do not ask me how she does it.

My Thai wife is the same! A strong breeze would blow her away but she can eat like a Clydesdale! 😲

Great idea.  Those of us who eat right and take care of themselves should be rewarded.

Not all people who are overweight are gluttons various medical conditions can cause the body to increase fat.I for one had a problem of weight gain through no apparent reason I ate one meal a day and walked 6 kilometres every day with no decline. After an ultrasound for an unrelated symptom they discovered a growth on my adrenal gland which made the body produce to much cortisol,a friend in small doses but the body's enemy in large amount.solution they removed the gland and in a matter of a few months I lost 10 kilos.

They'd still make a killing. It's great marketing. It's only 20% off, but image all the tiny tilacs going there for 20% off

I went from 170 to 205 over a period of a few years.   in 2018 It was found that I had an overactive parathyroid gland.   In 2019 I underwent surgery to have that gland removed.   I lost 30 pounds in 3 weeks!!

Should, definitely, be used at aircraft "cattle class" check ins!! Seat all the obese with each other and give em a dose of their own medicine.

Not only that but total weight i.e. including luggage should determine ticket price.

Excellent they should do the same on airlines  charge by the kilo  same as they do for luggage or freight.

unhealthy eating habits is what make someone fat...yes we should be fatphobic to some extent as obese people are unhealthy  in most cases, maybe there is a case for Sumo wrestlers  but they should also be charged by the kilo...or  maybe all the obese should be mandatory injected with Ozempic  to save the health services (and granny)  seeing as my body my choice flew straight out the window with Covid. ?

So body builders weight lifters people who care about their health but can't fit threw are unhealthy just like the BMI test it's false assessments of people's health as you think .

Aa a person who would struggle to fit through the full price bars, I still see this is nothing but harmless fun...  I also think they should have them at Sweet/Candy aisles at supermarkets 🙂

The Plane would be for sure out of balance except it has two Turbines on one side and the other side one only.😁

Yes, but should we impose it on others?

Overweight people make their own choices

One choice they have made is to be the Restaurant's customer!

One Choice the restaurant Owner could have is to welcome their Customers and be grateful for them!

In any event, how do the customers get out?

Not what I said at all, I said obese people are mostly unhealthy with the possible exception of Sumo wrestlers  who train and workout rigorously  but have to eat huge amounts to  keep the weight on.

A skinny guy like Bruce Lee may have been able to fit through the bars and get a discount  whereas Hulk Hogan  not.

You can be small skinny and healthy or large muscular and healthy  but there are very few obese healthy people  in my opinion of course    some bright spark (chat GPT ) will no doubt post a peer reviewed paper proving me wrong 😋
