If I haven't paid,  I will walk away especially if staff is screwing off, on phones etc.

The worst are these Grab delivery types.  Always shows an estimated time

but always driving around in circles.  I know they are delivering other orders, but don't say 5 minutes and 20 go by.

I have canceled them several times because of excessive delay. My account is cash so not charged.

I've had similar issues with Grab food delivery (in Bangkok) - but once the order is accepted, it can't be cancelled.

Son and I waited for over an hour for a Burger... nothing I could do about it, other than complain. I couldn't cancel.

Another one was Grab Mart (ordered Ibuprofen gel) - then saw that it was going to take over an hour for delivery and delivery itself was something like 400 baht because it was from a Pharmacy on the other side of Bangkok - No way I wanted, that so immediately tried to cancel but could not...

... the delivery never turned up...   The rider clearly just pocketing the 400 baht delivery charge - so I had to run a complaint and get a refund from Grab....

You mean you are still there now, still waiting?

I do not do take.... food panda deliveries to my house are 30mins or less.

Same,

I regularly order 2x 12" NY pizza using pizza co. App, delivered in under 30 minutes. Free delivery.

After how many minutes? Not Grab.

Same here.

I use Foodpanda frequently, 3 times a week at least.

No problems, even sometimes do the scheduled delivery so it gets delivered about the same time I get home from work. Works great.

I seldom use Grab just because Foodpanda is more convenient ordering on laptop.

I don't know how they can give a time. I have been to places where four delivery boys are waiting in line for their orders while the staff is still trying to serve walk-ins.

Why bother with waiting/delivery times?

Make it and eat it at home.

In all my  years I have never had a food delivery of anything!

Sit in the restaurant or make it at home.

They probably dealt with a guy like me. I ordered Rogan Josh with Naan bread and Pilaw rice whilst I was getting my hair cut. I thought I was being clever and would get the food delivered at home as I arrive back home. Of course this diabolical app somehoe disregarded my "Home" settings and instead logged the order for my current location. So I notified the driver to send to my home address. Of course he doesn't speak English and did not get it. So I got the hairdresser to call him. So he figured somethign was up. He still drove to my location, but I texted him again and he finally got it He arrived at my house 2 minutes before me and had to wait for me to compensate him with an extra 100 Baht (on top of the 500 Baht food order).

These things happen. I can't say I feel bothered by it.

I don't worry about waiting for takeout, I am reading a book on my phone while the food is prepared at the restaurant. Is takeout different to takeaway?

Don't use Grab or Food Panda, as I don't see how the scooter riders handle it. For all I know, they spit in farang orders.

Why would they do that?

The takeout im used to go hand in hand with me to my hotel. Many different dishes.

How would they know your nationality?

Or skin colour?

With that paranoia, guess they never eat at restaurants either :cheesy:

Order me a Tikka Masala I'll be there tomorrow to get it

I usually wait until it´s finished and given to me. On the other hand, that´s just because I know the country and how things work here.

Daily struggles

Another stupid comment.
Does that happen to you often?

At least with a takeout you can ask them how long it will take.  Anything from 10-20 minutes would be OK with me.

About 30 minutes is fine.

Just about the time to drink a large Leo.

If longer, just open one more beer, life is good.

I have had no issues with delivery food in Pattaya.

Good job, the Boys & Girls on the bikes.

First, I was a walk in at a restaurant - Sitting in the restaurant.

Second my home is an hour away and I did not want home delivery. I wanted to bring something with me to a friends place for her and her friends to have lunch..

I live too far away for home delivery and have also never had food home delivered,

So, after 25 minutes I asked when my food would be ready - they told me 2 minutes. After another 15 minutes, I walked out, though they told me it was nearly ready.

My question was not about home delivery - it was how long would you sit in a restaurant and wait?

ps - it was not food that I could or would have wanted to make at home.
