In an unusual turn of events, locals in Phuket's Bang Tao area discovered a foreign man sleeping in a graveyard after reportedly attending a nearby beach party. Shared by The Phuket Times on April 21, photos showed the man, clad in blue shorts and a white T-shirt, lying on the grassy burial ground, nestled within a local community and enclosed by a wall.

Reportedly intoxicated, the man found his way into the area by scaling the wall, transforming the burial site into his makeshift resting spot, or “natural grass bed.” The discovery sparked a mix of amusement and concern among Thai netizens, with some leaving humorous comments and others expressing worry for his safety.

A local who followed up in the comments confirmed that the man was unharmed, simply too inebriated and took a nap at the site. Meanwhile, Suttisak Jonli, a local app-based taxi driver, shared his experience of the incident. According to Suttisak, the man had booked a ride from Maya Beach Club but failed to respond to messages or calls when the driver arrived nearby.

Suttisak recounted, “This is the foreign man who booked my ride via the app. I was almost there, just 20 metres away, but he ignored me, climbed over the wall, and fell asleep. I had no choice but to leave him there.” He attached a screenshot of their exchange, emphasizing the challenges faced when attempting to locate the customer.

The man's name, as seen in the app, suggests he might be a Russian national, though this detail remains unconfirmed. This incident highlights the sometimes unpredictable consequences of Phuket's vibrant nightlife scene, reminding both locals and tourists of the importance of safety and moderation during celebrations.

He was looking for undisturbed peace.....and found a place.

So?

Good way to meet the local fauna. At least he fell asleep rather than starting fights.

Reminds me of the foreigner passed out and turning redder by the minute on Pattaya Beach.

I would try to wake him but afraid he would get angry and want to fight.

Perhaps it was that other Russian chap....

You know, the dui guy...🤣🤣

Out of harms way, disturbing no one, to recover from his drunkenness.

I like to go to a cemetery to pray for the dead. They are usually delightfully peaceful places and it is very easy to fall asleep if you close your eyes. If I'm lucky, one or more souls will respond to the prayer by sending a warm tingling feeling through me. ... As for why some Thais might take offense at the man sleeping in the cemetery, it may be because he was drunk and his presence there was disrespectful. That would be the same in many countries, I think.

She said that's amazing, because according to the imprint on your back you died in 1856

very misleading headlines when compared to the photo. The graveyard is near where he is sleeping. Not in the graveyard. So he got drunk and passed out. That is not a crime. But he is not sleeping with the dead there.

Plus the nabours won't be banging doors all night long.

20 years sober now,but for perhaps 35 years that is how you would find me maybe half a dozen times a year.

Once while building a bungalow on my own and too many lunchtime bevvies I fell asleep on the scaffold.Woke up to a crowd of people staring and shouting through the hoardings thinking I’d popped my clogs.

Alcohol isn’t for everyone but I still miss the crazy days.

The bloke was doing the sensible thing by the way. There are some considerate drunks.

Quoting the OP when it's a news story is just dumb. You've been told off about it before but keep doing it, are you restarted?

Really?? You got a link or any proof? Or is it just Hogwash?

If you're on the way of insult and offends, look for a fool. It's not me.

Ok, I take that as a personal threat. But, I deal with you without curse. That´s for babies.
