Pol. Lt. Gen. Panumas Boonyalak, the Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, visited Phuket Airport to discuss plans for the implementation of Automated Border Control (ABC) channels.

During his visit, he collaborated with Phuket Airport Director Montchai Tahnod and Tanapol Kongbunma, CEO of Chanwanich Co. Ltd.

This initiative is set to significantly enhance the efficiency of immigration processes, aiming to provide a smoother and quicker experience for international travellers.

The introduction of these automated systems is particularly timely, as Phuket sees an increasing number of tourists.

The ABC channels will help to reduce waiting times at immigration checkpoints, thereby improving the overall travel experience.

By leveraging advanced technology, the project reflects Thailand's commitment to embracing innovative solutions to meet the demands of growing tourism and ensuring a welcoming gateway for visitors.

So will these be available for foreigners? On entry, or only exit?

My question, too. For foreigners most probably, but my guess is only for exiting.

Its probably only for locals, for entering, and foreigners for exiting, same as BKK airport.

More and more airports in Asia have auto gates for foreigners entering and exiting, Singapore have had for a long time, Indonesia has at major airports, Malaysia at major airports, South Korea, Japan,

Its about time Thailand caught up??

When leaving at BKK airport thru the auto gates, you do not receive a stamp, so one can assume that if they had auto gates for foreigners entering it would be the same, no stamp. Problem is when you need to do your 90 day report many people rely on the passport entry stamp.

Of course no other countries have 90 day reports?

They ask for stamps because they currently use stamps. If they have auto-gates they would have another way of knowing as it is all on their database. If you can't remember when you arrived you have bigger problems.
