Wise transfers

Depends what bank you send it to. In my experience, SCB is by far the easiest and quickest. Bangkok Bank used to be good but now experiences delays. Kasikorn, in my experience, useless. Endless delays with K-Bank when using Wise transfers.

Never had a problem with K-Bank. Have been using them for about 8 years.

Always arrives in under 2 minutes.

Transfers from Australia and always under ฿50,000

    Never a problem.

  • Sending over a weekend has become unpredictable

  • But I sent a smaller amount this morning and the transfer was instantaneous. The transfer I did on Friday is still sending. Wise never used to be like this. They just take the pi55 now.

Just sent 500 GBP to my SCB account a few hours ago. Completed in 10 minutes 😊

Not unpredictable  for me. My transfers are never transferred over the weekends,

Depending on the currency and the payment method used. While some Wise transfers are instant, they may not be processed until the next business day if sent over the weekend.

There Yer Go " Fixed it " For Yer......

Wise has a limit of 50000 Baht per transaction, when sent to my KTB account. It depends on the Thai bank, with Bangkok bank there is no limit.

I use payoneer instead for larger transfers.

The question is why it is only wise that has these limits, and why only for certain banks but not for others.

The limit is not set by WISE:-

How much can I send?

The maximum amount that you can send per transfer depends on the recipient's bank.

Recipient bank Maximum per transfer (THB)
Bangkok Bank Public Company 2,000,000
Kasikorn Bank 2,000,000
Siam Commercial Bank 1,499,999
Other recipient banks

50,000

Wise is normally pretty instantaneous but recently I seem to get unnecessary delays. Yesterday  I sent £59 from the UK but today it still says "sending". I sent £12 just a few minutes ago and the recipient got it almost instantaneously. I have sent them a message to ask why. It just seems these days delays are getting more frequent. Fortunately this was small amount of money but I am concerned about what happens if this a large amount of cash? Anybody else experiencing this?

I sent money yesterday, took less than 20 secs to arrive from Uk to Kasikorn bank.

That's still SLOW....Mine is Usually 6 Seconds with Kasikorn.....

Since Tuesday, Wise transfers to Bangkok Bank may be delayed for up to 24 hours, sometimes rolled forward to 48 hours. Choose another recipient bank and it's back to seconds again.

Unlike Wise, Remitly has a notice displayed stating that transfers to Bangkok Bank are currently experiencing delays.

Yesterday I sent payments of 43k and 21k, both arrived in seconds.

Maybe the Bangkok Bank person who does the 2pm postings is on holiday

I transferred money from a Dutch ( Rabo) bank, Saturday evening, but.. seen Visakha Bucha Day I presume, it arrived Tuesday morning at Bangkok Bank Extremely late for Wise, as goes/ went ?.. independant of everyting, in minutes.

WISE transfers are not usually affected by weekends or bank holidays (except for the rate usually being poorer).

Being domestic transfers within Thailand the agent can do them 24 hours a day.

My transaction documented on the previous page has arrived pretty much as predicted by Wise.  The unusual thing (to me) about it is the Wise confirmation shows it as a local bank transfer and BBL show it as International.  It did have the 2 o'clock-ish "International" timing even thought I hadn't specified the purpose as per the usual guidelines.

Probably the usual Bangkok Bank manual process we are all aware of by now

Not long after I added my wife's Omsin (Government Savings) bank account as a new recipient on Wise.Hopefully this is only a temporary problem...

Just add one account on SCB. And Wise not offer anymore to add recipient outside the six banks mentionned.

Well you couldn't add it today....did you try to send money to it?

No I did not.Perhaps later the blocked banks will update their systems and be allowed again.?Or I can add her Krungthai bank account.

Interestingly, I'm just attempting to transfer my monthly income using Wise to my Bangkok account and they are saying Monday 19th at the earliest! This was Friday morning at the time of writing. Like many have said it normally takes seconds, or at the very least a few hours.

And yes, the amount is under 50,000 baht.

Perhaps I will leave it and try again on Monday...
