Check for visas ....?

Most nationalities get v exempt...why would they boder to do so ...waste of time ...like passangers can not properly take care of their business and yes i know frequently airlines have to take care of return flight of those being stranded at inmigration andbthat why they try to avoid it ...

Your post makes almost zero sense.

The guy you quoted was stating that if flying from places in his example Saigon, that the airline almost certainly will ask for proof of onward flight.

This is done by the airline at departure. Not immigration.

BTW it's not the return flight that's of concern to the airline it's the fine.

well any way you slice it you have an extensive entry/stay history to thailand AND it's 100% up to the officer you're standing in front of when you stamp in to decide if you're a "real tourist" or som

  • Two things.  Firstly not sure where you are flying from however flying visa exempt from eg Vietnam the airline at departure will almost certainly require proof of onward flight.    Not

Best option : Get a safe entry agency. You pay 5000 baht, but you have no issues.

Is it such that if you do this once, you always need an agency?  Or it does not really matter?

No you do not. You are just guaranteed a visa waiver stamp.

I made a round trip Bangkok Da Nang Bangkok two months ago: they asked me for an onward ticket at Suvarnabhumi, they didn't in Da Nang.

Who asked ??

1) Immigration at Bangkok (Don Muang or Suvarnabumi) upon your return to Bangkok ?

2) Check-In staff at Bangkok (Don Muang or Suvarnabumi) upon your departure from Bangkok ?

(note: The same proof of onward travel is required in Vietnam for <15 day Visa exemption)

OK - At the Airport Check-in when departing Thailand (Bangkok)....

Thats to comply with Vietnam requirements.

The same requirements for proof of onward travel are also required to enter Thailand Visa exempt.

If you were not asked for proof of onward travel when checking-in for your Da-Nang to BKK flight- its either because:

a) You already hold a Thailand Visa

b) You were entering Visa Exempt, and the Check-In staff simply didn't bother to check (for proof of onward travel, nevertheless, its still a requirement for Visa exempt and passengers are often checked).

You were exiting Thailand to fly to Vietnam.

Assume you had no visa for Vietnam?

If that's the case you could be asked for onward flight.

Surprising the airline did not ask for onward flight for flught Da Nang to BKK.
