Crime Chinese Tenants Flee Without Paying Rent, Trash Property in Prachinburi

In Prachin Buri, a landlord is left in disbelief as a group of Chinese tenants skipped town without paying rent and left his property in a shocking state.

 

Surathin, the homeowner, took to Facebook on May 13 with photos documenting the mess, claiming, "These Chinese people are terrible. They rented my house for five months and skipped the rent payment."

 

Surathin's house was turned into a rubbish dump, with the floors littered with plastic bags, snack wrappers, plastic bottles, and empty beer bottles, among other waste.

 

Personal items like luggage, trainers, clothes, and flip-flops were also abandoned. Though the furniture and electrical appliances were left intact, the state of disarray demands a thorough clean-up before the house can return to livable conditions.

 

The saga began when the tenants agreed to a five-month lease starting last December, with a monthly rent of THB 5,000. They paid an initial deposit of THB 10,000. Surathin, who lived abroad, managed the rental through his neighbour, especially handling payments and check-ins.

 

When the contract was about to end, the tenants requested a 10-day extension, which Surathin allowed at THB 500 per day, expecting full payment of THB 5,000 by May 9.

 

Instead, the payment never arrived. After failing to hear from the tenants, Surathin asked his neighbour to check on the house, only to discover the tenants had vanished, leaving behind a mess.

 

The neighbour reported that while the tenants had been amiable and caused few issues, aside from occasional noisy parties, they had disappeared entirely before the final inspection.

 

This incident echoes another in Phuket, where a Thai property owner faced similar woes with foreign tenants. A dispute over a deposit led to a damaged condominium and an unresolved financial conflict.

 

Such incidents shed light on the potential challenges of letting property to foreign tenants, emphasising the need for thorough background checks and secure rental agreements to mitigate risks.

So he still presumably has the 10k deposit which if only a cleanup is needed will easily cover that and the missing 5k agreed for the extra 10 days rent.........

Unless I am missing something seems like he got off lucky compared to some others.

That's how I read it. So they were paying rent and he still had the deposit? Granted the place is a mess - even the suitcase? got left behind.

whats the point of stating they are" foreign "  tenants got to do with it ? I just had a thai tenant move out and they destroyed a brand new sofa and couch, and did other damages....  so tenants are good are bad no matter the nationality , pointing out they are foreign , just means you are racist .

So what? This happens all the time, all over the world. You want higher quality tenants? Then vet them, get references and don't let the first person with some cash who comes along be your next tenant. Lesson learned? One wonders.

Unless you're renting the high end market, in China it's normal to simply leave at the end of the lease, leaving behind whatever you don't want to take with, and letting the landlord clean the mess.

 

This is balanced out by the landlord not cleaning the property, leaving it to the next tenants to make it habitable.

Completely typical for Mainland Chinese. The natives of Taiwan and Singapore don't act like this. I have been shoved out of a queue by Chinese on several occasions, so my opinion of the Han is permanently geared towards a negative response. Many expats are irritated by Indians and Pakistanis, but I just find them a bit noisy, rather than offensive.

50,000 for cleaning.  200,000 for broken items.   500,000 in lost rent.    60,000,000 for pain and suffering.   Settle for 1,000.   

 

who knows, maybe 100 people lived there.  party all day, party all night.

 

never rent out your place, let someone borrow money, let anyone borrow anything......then no article.   easy.   hard to trust strangers.

A pretty run of the mill story for anyone who has rented out property. Some tenants are good, some bad. It’s why the landlord takes a security deposit. To cover damage and cleaning as a result of bad tenants

chinese could be detained at airport if you take passport scans and report to immigration ASAP before they leave town..

I dont see anything got damaged besides leaving behind the garbage. Should be thankful just clean the mess it wont cost 5000b

Detained for what? They left a bit of a mess but the landlord can deduct it from the deposit and still make a profit.

A landlord has no right to hold someone's passport. They are only entitled to keep a photocopy.
