Passport number on my licence in no way indicates my nationality.

I just renewed my Thai driver's license in Pattaya and noticed something weird: my first name and last name are reversed. They said they used the names in the same order as in the resident certificate. Does anyone else have the last name placed before the first name?

Always like that.......Surname then given names.

If you just renewed it, look at your old licence..will be same.

I would like to have your problem - enjoy life and be happy, that this is your only problem - apparently!

My name on Thai DL is first, middle, last.

Name in Thai language is one line

Name in English is on the line below name in Thai.

My passport number does not appear anywhere on my Thai driver license.

Then the following reasons exist:

1) You've either registered with a Pink ID / Yellow House Book - and that ID number is listed

2) You haven't looked at the bottom line of the front of your Driving licence

3) You've been issued a Fake driving license through an agent

All driving licenses in thailand have a National ID number on it...   Thats either an ID from your Passport, or a Thai Issues ID number (specific to you).

It has the pink ID number on it. I did not want to mention the pink ID for fear of being attacked as a fool.

Once you register it with the revenue department, I think the pink ID number becomes your tax ID number as well.

My latest from Pattaya are reversed too... Mr   surname  first name

up to them  I don't care.

Temporary versions  was first name last name  and the in between ones that expired last year they kept would not return them, always something different to keep you guessing.

I just found the copy of my first 5 year full license and it is

Surname  first name

so it seems at Pattaya the temporary license is first name last name

the full 5 year licence is  last name first name...wonderful  😋

I don't think its anything so organised...

Its whatever is on the supporting documentation (CoR or YellowBook / Pink ID) that that order depends purely on the whoever generated that document.... thats about it IMO.

I check-in for domestic flights with my Pink-ID (or Driving licence)...  but I do not travel to another province without my passport....    as that 'could' cause issue IF for any reason the Police want to see your passport.

So you fly domestically within the same province? or you prefer to use your stupid pink ID instead of passport, why would you do that Richard?

You used the 'Checking in with your Driving License' in a 'what if scenario' easily countered by carrying a passport..

but if he carried his PP, would he not use that to check in?
