I  read books each and every day, but almost always on Kindle, Project Guttenberg or another Internet source.  I haven't bought or borrowed a physical book in years except as a present to give to some

All fake. I prefer real life. Walking, eating, seeing new chicks

Lord of the Rings is mythology.

So you don't read books or watch any movies?

Just chase skirt all day?

I have always been an avid reader but then the availability of books in some countries and cost of them today, puts a damper on it until my college student daughter introduced me to KINDLE.  Now I hardly put it down.  Much better than watching a big screen and with a subscription and freebies for reading it is amazingly cheap!  A great idea IMHO!  sorry I didn't take advantage earlier.

I used to read and watch movies. Seems a waste of time now.

Don't read Kafka, don't care. I do not read your made up Thai stories either, care even less.

I don't post any made-up Thai stories here, or anywhere.

Must be another member you are thinking of.

Where is a good book store in Pattaya with a good selection? I know of the used place but trying to find another place that may be able to order a book if they don’t have what I’m looking for.

I still read books, both nline – i.e., e-books – and physical books, which I prefers; I'm a grumpy old man, so still old-fashioned enough for that kind of old-fashioned stuff...😉

I wonder why you ask these questions.

Are you lonely?

Yes, I still read books. Real, honest to all, paperback books.  I try to wait until they're printing the smaller reprints, because I read at night in bed. The big paperback books are a bit heavy and cumbersome.

I read 5 or 6 books a month.  Wonderful having a Kindle.  Just received an Amazon.com order of 3 hardcopy books not available on Kindle.

Yes. I love the feel of books. Being a retired printer I have always been involved with print but never read (it was too much like work) now I love reading

drongo

What's a drongo.

Just curious.

Never heard the term before in my life.

English is such a rich language.

This is why English fiction cannot be beat, assuming one actually reads English fiction, which I once did...all the time.

I would read fiction again, if only I were able to suspend disbelief in this New Braver World of ours.

This is no longer a world which is so conducive to reading fiction, unfortunately.

Well, I like birds, especially the Thai myna bird, and the bird that pokes holes in my lawn, too.

These are my favorite birds.

So far...

Maybe i will look for a Drongo bird, tomorrow.

I think I might try reading one of the better Inorganic Chemistry textbooks.

I know which one.

There is a very well-written few textbooks written by one particular author now teaching in California.

His books are among the best for students.

His books are suitable for AP Chemistry, and then first year college chemistry, and some other advanced books.

I have always found chemistry more difficult than other natural sciences due to more than normal memorization requirements, compared to Physics, and biochem.

Also, organic chemistry is easier, and so I am OK with organic chemistry.

But, inorganic chemistry is a pain.

So I might read the college textbook I mentioned.

Or, I might not.

I probably will, but I won't read all 1000+ pages in one evening.

I guess it will take me a few days, or a few months.

This will be a review of what I learned in college 100 years ago.

I love to read and read every day--especially for about an hour before I go to sleep.  Like mysteries, suspense novels, crime/police novels, and World War II novels.  Currently finishing the Ripley series.  Love anything by Sandford, Connelly, Child, Kellerman, Grisham, Archer, Follett, Reich, Nesbo, Deaver, Elizabeth George, and others.  And, now I am off to read my hour before I sleep.

I always have a book to read when I travel. Sitting in the airport the time passes quicker. On the plane no wires to untangle when my meal comes. Also if I have to go back to check something it's easier than with Kindle.

Only biography  's.  for some strange reason. Currently  Too Good To Be True about Bernie Madoff.

I really miss my 3000 books library, as I prefer hardcover books, but I've built up an almost bigger digital library now, as I found an amazing website to download books.

I read them on my Samsung tablet or my kindle, but mostly the Samsung.

It's not as much fun as reading a hard cover, but it will do.

When you still had your 3000-book hardcover collection, did you think of yourself as a part-time librarian?

Also, what happened to those books?

And, how were they arranged and categorized.

But mostly, what happened to them?

What kind of bookcases did you use, wood or metal?

I like book cases of wood, preferably a beautiful hardwood.

What happened to your 1st Kindle?  Mine's over ten years old & in use every day.  How long do batteries last & can you replace them in Thailand (Pattaya)?

Just put calibre Library on your pc and let it worry about putting it on your kindle via usb transfer.

I'm on No.3, battery usually fails after 3 years.

My first kindle was getting old just like me so got a new one,I just charge it from the electric depending on the usage and a full charge lasts about 8 hours of reading
