he also wants to get ultra-processed foods out of school lunches.

nice job subjugating your ego and admitting at least one point on your opposing team is positive.

maybe the only guy on your team to do that ever on AN.

I agree. There is lots to been done in this area.

High fructose corn syrup in almost any foodstuff.

Hormones and antibiotics in animal feed.

High levels of sodium in processed foods.

Chemical preservatives.

I do find it a bit strange that this would be part of the MAGA manifesto given the "drill, baby, drill" rhetoric when it comes to the environment, something also tied to human health.

I also agree. Actually it's a blanket agreement with every of his current or potential proposals which are supported by scientific evidence (not the ones which are not, I.e. about autism).

If the U.S. goes that way, it may converge towards the same food standards as the EU standards. No more "non-tariff barriers" for agricultural products! 🙂

P.S. Don't dream, the Republican agro lobby will likely not allow banning harmful pesticides and fertilizers

Well done, you've broken the seal, that was the hard bit.

Next you'll realize deporting violent gangbanging scumbags that entered illegally through the Biden/Mayorkas open border is good. After that there's no stopping.

Nothing to do with ego from my side.

A good thing is a good thing,i can agree with more things Trump wants to do but i object to the way he is doing things.

Can you admit Trump is doing some things wrongly?

Like the B.S. EO about lowering medication prices, be sure to check whether anything actually happens as a result of Kennedy yapping.

Surely there are food industry lobbies that won't be too happy.

I'm in favor of any good policies propagated by the worse presidential administration in American history.

But people need to keep in mind that there is a big difference between just saying stuff and actually doing them.

Mr. Trump recently signed an EO calling for low medication prices.

There is nothing in the way of an actual implementation plan about that or even a concept of a plan.

So chances of the EO actually coming into effect are close to ZERO.

This is a good propaganda tool because it fools the suckers to think that Trump is actually doing something to help anyone other than his billionaire cronies and any foreign despot willing to give him a big enough bribe.

Billionaires.  ::DRINK!::

I think people have a cynical and warped view about what most govts are doing.

They don't sit around just concerned about lining their own pockets.

They actually try to generate income for the entire country.

You can see this over and over in the Thai News here as the govt constantly comes up with strategies to increase tourism because money trickles down to the entire population. Even though some plans don't always work out, they're trying.

You pissed off that a few people keep the lion's share? Well, suck it up. That's how it's always been. If you want to get rich, become a CEO of something.

Still, they are trying to stimulate the economy in general. Apart from a few psycho leaders in some countries maybe. But Trump ain't one of them.

Project Stargate is a massive monumentally ambitious 500 Billion dollar AI project. Backed by Trump.

https://www.usnews.com/news/national-news/articles/2025-01-23/what-is-the-trump-backed-stargate-ai-project-and-why-is-it-controversial

This infrastructure will secure American leadership in AI, create hundreds of thousands of American jobs, and generate massive economic benefit for the entire world.

I don't know if it's a few people keeping the lions share.   I'd say it follows a normal distribution.  A few people get rich, and the the lions is distributed amount lots of people in the middle.

RFK jr is trying to ban certain coloring agents in foods and drinks.

Very long overdue and the best way to support healthcare is the banning of chemical agents in food and drink.

Looks like people need (forced) protection to stay healthy.

There is a long way to go and getting rid of food lobbyists is only the first step.

Cooking oils, corn syrup and added sugar need to go!

Banning of certain commercials will also help.

A small step so far but it has the potential to change the whole USof A and of course the rest of humanity.

Higher tax on bad foods,is better than paying taxes on imports.

MAGA? RFK jr was a lifelong Democrat up until about 5 minutes ago. Obama said in 2008 that marriage is between a man and a woman.

So-called MAGA is basically status quo American from 20 years ago.

Cutting food stamps too.

Truly a regime that steals from the poor to give to the richest.

WIth low unemployment, why is there so much spending on food stamps?

The federal budget needs to be cut.

But some people do need food stamps and the program is actually good for farmers.

Sure the federal budget needs to be cut but massive transfer of wealth to BILLIONAIRES paid for by the poor is not the right way.

No, it isn't the right way.  It's the MAGA way.

Screw the average person so that Trump and his billionaire friends can profit.

Tell me about this massive transfer of wealth to BILLIONAIRES.   Lay it out right here.  Explain the mechanism.

The fact that billionaires exist and got rich in the first place is the "transfer".

It is possible that there should be a cap on how much one person should own ... but that's an entirely different subject. And since they own everything, it may never happen. In fact, we may see the first trillionaire soon.

Food stamps/WIC is stupid. If you want to subsidize the poor, just give them money.

stupid joke removed.

it's a case by case. some got rich more ethically than others maybe.

and some billionaires may be noble in their intentions, others not.
