I'm 1000% sure there's 100's of these stories daily in Prattaya.

A friend of mine had to dump a girlfriend. He worked on oil rigs. Every time he went on a contract, when he got back, something had been “stolen”. Motorbike, jewelry, gold.

What a dump Pattaya is. In the news daily for all the wrong reasons.

I think it's since been re- reported as the first report was FALSE. Somewhat nullifying your premise about Pattaya.  Which is one of the greatest cities in Thailand apart from Bangkok.

But that's ridiculous.

Couples don't get nasty divorces where you come from?

Life often has problems that are beyond our control.

Only on silly forums like this do people come on here and expect all foreigners to have perfect lives free of any problems and then make bold statements like "go back to your country".

This is where carrying a weapon teaches a hard lesson to those who think they can do whatever they want and get away with it. 3 shots, and three stopped from doing this again, which they will, as it's easy pickings.

What are you talking about, she has admitted that the story was made up to cover the loss of her boyfriends money.

It's best to read all of a topic so you don't miss things. I posted that before I read the update saying it was  a scam.

When reading this I really miss the old "confusion" icon....

Hmmm, flying yellow pigs above my head.

It's called defending yourself, and I posted this reply before I saw the update stating it was a scam by her.

Good luck spending your next few years in prison for carrying an illegal firearm. This is Thailand, not Texas.

Where did I say I had a gun here? We should be able to own guns, as foreigners that live here aren't the ones committing gun crimes, but having a gun for self defense against those here that do, makes sense.

Giving 32k to a thai woman!!!! He’s far from wise 😤

To be fair, the article doesn't say to whom the money belonged, but I guess it's fair to assume that he was the source of it.

Having said that, he is fairly wise, you know - when this came to light he dumped her - whoever owned the money, this is not a woman to have as a girlfriend / partner or any other sort of relationship. 😆

Thai's live mainly for the moment and Responsibility and Accountability ar brushed aside with ease until the s++t hits the fan; then it's lie about everything until they get caught out.    Seen it, been through it, worn the T Shirt, survived it and learned from it.....the last being the most important part !

Visibly shaken, she told officers that she was riding her motorcycle home from work when she was followed and forced to stop, by three men on two motorcycles just after the junction on the railway road.

She has been watching too many movies.

How funny this story is, it's like I was reading the news of my home country, very dangerous now, the west horrible place to live.

In fact Thailand is one of the safest countries with the nicest people.

It doesn't say that! We don't actually know where the 32K came from?😇

In some kind of alternative reality, I guess what you say makes sense. But in actual reality, guns breed gun crime, gun deaths both accidental and deliberate and proliferate yet more guns. It’s a downward spiral ending in chaos.

Just examine other countries, those that have very strict gun controls and those that do not. The results are self evident.

I'm just going on what's happening now. I sold guns and know the problems. Defending yourself against those who are out to hurt you is necessary.

She told police that the alleged attackers, whom she described as drug-addicted youths on two motorbikes, had made off with 32,000 baht in cash and an engagement ring.

Seems a bit extreme just to try and cover up a missing 32kbht ($1000).

She's lying again. One of two things happened:

1. She lost it gambling, pawned or sold her engagement ring and lost that too.

2. It got stolen or given to her Thai boyfriend. Keep this in mind when you rent a girlfriend, boys, she doesn't love you and there's a good chance she has a Thai boyfriend. These girls are broken and will give him all their cash and then cry to you that they can't pay their bills. If no amount is ever enough - she's giving it to a guy.

Mine gives it all to other women selling makeup, skin creams and herbal supplements.

Aren't you one who claims to be a "real man"? Why would you need a gun to protect yourself? You cannot handle another man on your own?
