Anyone tried the ferry from Hua Hin? I heard about just recently. Would save us for half of the driving

Don't belive that AI is always right...:whistling:

In real life the Lomprayah catameran ferry departs from Chumpon via Tao and Phangan to Samui. It takes 4½ hour. Price is correct 1,200 baht pier-to-pier.

AI unfortunately sometimes answers what you like to hear and even invent links that don't exist in real life.

You can catch a Lomprayah express-bus ion both Bangkok and Hua Hin that takes you to Chumphon (see map).

We will continue to drive down 😁  and we go-to Phangan, not Samui and bring the motorbike. The biker claimed we could bring the bike on the ferry from Hua Hin

I fly cheap to surat Thani and there’s a bus outside takes me to the ferry and very quickly to Samui and a taxi to lamai for me

I tried that journey this year one way for a change.

Taxi Lamai to Nathon, ferry to Donsak, bus to Surat airport, flight to DMK. One checked bag. That took about 8.5 hours door to door. OK, saved maybe £60-70 versus Bangok Airways but I didn't feel it worth all the hassle.

The Seahorse ferry from Bangkok or Sattahip is also a good option.  You can take your car or bike, and avoid running the gauntlet of Rama II.

Yeah, deffo not worth the hassle unless you're paying for a whole family or something. But if I'm taking the whole family I'm driving anyway....
