Why do so many posters continually diss other posters?

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

I see this in the forums all the time .........

Posters looking down on guys living in Pattaya, elderly, guys living on a pension, living in a rented condo, supporting a woman and her family, men spending time in bars, or smoking weed/tobacco, etc.

Why not just enjoy your own life and stop looking for fault or judging other people?

Ok, let´s sort it out, right?

Looking down on people living in Pattaya: I think that is wrong. What most posters here say is bad things about the city, all the bad elements and the rising criminality. Not looking down on regular people living there, more than state that we can´t understand how people chose to liv there. But that´s only our opinion, and not looking down on anyone.

Elderly guys living on pension. Who is looking down on that? It´s just regular retired people. When we look down on something, it´s more like we see to the economy, and find out that there are quite many who have moved to Thailand with not enough money. That´s a very stupid thing to do! That, does not mean it´s wrong to live on pension.

Looking down on people living in a rented condo??? Where have you seen that?

Supporting a woman and her family. Posters here are not looking down on people doing that in general. What some are looking down on, is when we read stories of huge amounts. That´s basically to make a person wake up before it´s too late. After that, we all have different opinions, and are free to express our opinions. That´s not looking down on all people in a genre. It´s focusing on specific threads and specific cases.

After that, spending time in bars or smoking. Also here, not looking down, but expressing our opinion.

You know, all the above, is things people do in a forum. It´s called general discussions.

What does politics have to do with this thread? You just can´t help yourself, right?

I like the way Brits make fun of each others cities. Leeds folks are barely human, Welsh are sheep shaggers, Scousers, etc

I suspect they don't have a life beyond sneering at people who do

I think Nietzsche explains this best. People take pleasure in hurting and torturing others. He was talking about women, but it applies across the board. There is a certain pleasure for those who inflict pain.

It's just the way it is.

Do you mean ALL Westerners?

Compared with Australians, Thailand is West, as is India etc. The UK is East of USA!

Half of them deserve it as they post the stupidest things on here .

And yet, we're in SEA :coffee1:

Does not 'west' refer to 'western' societies, much like 'western foods'.   I prefer 1st or 3rd world myself, or country and or continent.

Agree entirely, and it's the thing I don't like about this forum, and it stops me from posting, as many times I make a post or type out a reply, then just delete it because I think...why bother, someone is just going to come right back at me, twist my words to use against me, and I can do without the agro.

Went to Pattaya a while ago and most of the single old men walking around looked like their Mother and Dog had just died. I also see that in many Expats in other places too - not so many is one spot though.  I think they are just unhappy and grumpy - glad I will never be that way - enjoy life I say, before you know it one day .............

99 per cent of posters are fine. There is the odd one who is offensive to the point where you feel the need to make a personal comment - for what it's worth.

I see some guys talk about their lifestyle - revel in being with young girls - revel in their dodgy lifestyle - try and act all manly with posts about guns and prostitutes and their reverence for what they perceive as manly leaders - while seriously moralising and denigrating the lifestyles of others such as gays or those with different political beliefs.

There's a line between a bit of chat and something else - if it goes beyond I think it's fine to call out posters personally. Often I think it's a sign they have been hurt so leave them be but hard to sometimes.

Not talking about you by the way.

These are not put downs they are just simple facts.

I think it's a little bit of jealousy.

From the guys that can't go shagging around,  like a lot of the old guys do here in pattaya.

Good luck to  the old boys,  with a fist full of Viagra starting at the top of Soi 6 on a Tuesday afternoon.

I live my life as I want with no reference to other people.

I don't hurt anyone and spread my money around the local economy.

If you think my posts are controversial, that's on you.

As a Brit I find most American posters have a lack of sense of humour. We Brits can laugh about anything and we don't generally take things personal or attack fellow members or throw out insults because some poster has posted on threads they don't like or feel they are being attacked.

There are a few in particular. They always make it personal. @Harrisfan and @Yagoda are two examples of the worst of this forum.

Many of us can discuss politics without necessarily hating people for the choices that they make. Yes I do hate Trump, yes I have zero respect for the man, but I understand why people voted for him, and I respect Trump supporters as fellow human beings, and there's no reason to make this personal, yet some feel the need to descend to the same level as their master.

I truly believe that the greatest act of patriotism is to criticize Trump, his astonishing ignorance, and his willingness to make America very irrelevant.

But @Yagoda is a great guy!

I don't think I've ever heard him pontificating on fine wine, foodie restaurants, museums or any other pretentious elitist nonsense.

And @Harrisfan seems like a decent enough bloke, but hasn't been posting long enough for me to form any solid view.

So you came on this thread to diss Pattaya expats?

This thread is about NOT dissing. You missed the entire point.

But now you're dissing pretentious people.

And I've done it myself numerous times on here.

But point is ... it's impossible to not diss ever.

We all do it.

I think some members are 'professional' shills, posting controversial and put-down remarks to generate more comments and clicks.

"Went to Pattaya a while ago and most of the single old men walking around looked like their Mother and Dog had just died"

It's a medical condition 🙂  As you age, gravity moves the tissue of your face downwards, including the sides of your mouth.  Older people also lose muscle mass.

The end result is that many old people are unable to smile because they don't have enough muscle mass in the small muscles used to lift the sides of your mouth upwards!! 🙂

The solution is to exercise those muscles.  I walk around smiling at everyone....  When I die, I will look like the joker...

Well I dont fully agree - but unlike those with the more severe second bout of <removed>, at least he does not make it all about Trump.  I sometimes wonder if they know how close they are to being gender studies women?  They use their cognitive bias and blame men Trump for everything !!

I disagree with you entirely on that subject. For me they are the worst of humanity, if their posts represent who they are.
