Trump doesn't have long before he loses complete credibility with those who have tried to hang on in this first 4 months of his second term.  Even Wall Street is starting to know how to play his unpredictable and uninformed quick actions. Executive orders $.05 a piece!!

His TACO approach to tariffs shows just how little this guy really understands global trade and commerce.

Financial analysts and investors began using "TACO" as shorthand to describe this predictable cycle, allowing them to anticipate market rebounds after a tariff threat was announced. While Trump himself has rejected the term, insisting his actions are part of a negotiation strategy, the acronym gained traction on Wall Street to describe his often volatile and unpredictable approach to trade.

Yep Trump always chickens out.

So he's bad for applying the tariffs then he's bad for not applying the tariffs?  It sounds like people are just looking for ways to pretend that Trump is bad.

You beat me to it! LOL. Well pretty much sums it up.

I wonder how long this buzz word will be used. Remember when weird was the word of the day.

While fielding questions from reporters in the Oval Office on Wednesday, Trump was asked for his reaction to the now-viral Wall Street jab.

"Oh, I chicken out? Isn't that nice? I've never heard that," Trump said.

"You call that chickening out?" Trump asked, appearing visibly agitated by the question, which he called "nasty."

"Don't ever say what you said," Trump told the reporter. "That's a nasty question."

You are not a Trump supporter apparently but it's hard to find you critical of many of his policies and you seem resistant to criticisms of him - though that's based on  a small sample of your posts I have seen to be fair - but it could be good if you didn't snipe and said something useful - as a Canadian what do you think of his approach to tariffs.

Pretty soon the only reporter's he'll have left will be from the Green Acres High School Bugle. He keeps trying to kick out the "nasty" ones. Poor Donald, can't answer the hard questions there mate?

So he's bad for applying the tariffs then he's bad for not applying the tariffs?  It sounds like people are just looking for ways to pretend that Trump is bad.

Trump cited a law called the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) as the legal authority for his tariffs. The IEEPA requires the declaration of an "unusual and extraordinary" threat.

They asked Hamilton whether there are any limits of a president's tariff power.

"We have a national shortage of peanut butter. Can the president declare an extraordinary emergency?" U.S. District Judge Jane Restani * asked. "What you're saying is there's no limit."

* NB Ms. Restani is the President Reagan appointee.

While Trump on Truth Social has complained of left wing activist judges, much of the current opposition on tariff cases is from right wing / libertarian interests who are and have for years been against the expansion of executive powers that they at least feel are properly the venue of congress.

Headline 29MAY WSJ Editorial Board:

President Trump Isn’t a Tariff King
A sweeping trade court ruling puts the executive in his proper constitutional place.

Trump Championed Rulings That Are Now Being Used to Check His Power
In tariff case and others, courts are finding the president’s expansive view of executive authority clashes with decisions that limit its reach

The economy is booming?you could have fooled me,it’s certainly not from were I sit here in the states.the truth is everyone is stressed and worried about their jobs the economy their retirement and the state of our democracy.that’s reality.this TACO nickname fits it’s funny and has a grain of truth + it gets to him.I would caution though trump is a malignant narcissist of the highest order in a very powerful position.hes not very smart cannot admit when he wrong has no empathy or compassion he perfectly capable of doing something very injurious to us all.

Trump plots Supreme Court fight on tariff ruling by ‘activist judges’
The president has won a temporary Appeal Court stay on the judges’ decision that ‘liberation day’ levies were unlawful, and will now challenge the District Court

\

“Ultimately the Supreme Court must put an end to this, for the sake of our constitution and our country,” Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary, said on Thursday.

“Three judges of the US Court of International Trade … brazenly abused their judicial power to usurp the authority of President Trump, to stop him from carrying out the mandate that the American people gave him.”

Leavitt said she was confident the president would triumph in the courtroom. “We’re going to fight them in court, and we’re going to win on the merits of these cases because we know we are acting within the president’s legal and executive authorities,” she said.

You mean these 'pathetic' people?

In a reversal, Trump bashes Catholic conservative activist Leonard Leo

President Donald Trump lambasted prominent conservative mega donor and Catholic, Leonard Leo, calling him a "sleazebag" and accusing Leo's Federalist Society of giving him “bad advice” on some judicial nominations.

The attack marks a notable and unexpected shift in the president's relationship with Leo. Trump particularly turned to Leo, along with the Federalist Society, a conservative and libertarian organization focused on the legal system that Leo co-chairs, for recommendations on judicial appointments. The most prominent of those were Supreme Court justices Neil Gorsuch, Amy Coney Barrett and Brett Kavanaugh, all of whom Trump appointed to the court during his first term in office.
