Don't really understand that myself, my 16 years here have been the best in my life.

 ............. and who could have guessed that my old age would be better than my youth!

I've been gathering all my photos into one collection (Synology Photos), so many happy memories.

 

Yep, I'm happy, nice wife, nice kids, nice pets, nice life.

Been here since 2004, Madam was (just) a granny when we got hitched

 

Now a great-granny.

 

Love her to bits, family are great and we have a home that I would have no chance to own in the UK.

 

God is in his heaven and all is right with the world. Except the Cairo project which is a mess** 😞 

 

** But they do pay me an inordinate amount to take the blame sort out the issues and I can WFH mostly.

Wherever you go, there you are.

Yes, we are happy. My better half - my wife - and my humble self are just settling now in our new location. We are both farang. That made a few things more complicated with Tessaban and Amper. 

 

Yes - happy so far.

Been here full-time since '99 and but for a few hitches here and there, life just gets better and better.

I have product (HVAC) in the Sukhumvit & Silom lines, and the MRT. I think most or all of the lines since then.  

 

We built the stuff for the BTS in California, and opened a plant here in 2000 to build the MRT stuff.

   Its my opinion .

I suspect many people would move away from Thailand if they could afford it

Agree, as TH is just a location.  Like everywhere, it is what you bring with you.  A Yank, and could also be just as happy in the USA.  

 

Only difference, I'd probably generate some real income, to enjoy the same lifestyle I have here, and to take advantage of the options available in USA.   Easy enough to do.  

 Very Happy with my life spending 6 months in Ubon and 6 months in Orlando, Florida USA. Lot's of changes since I first flew into Thailand in 1985, but I promised my Thai wife that we would spend our "Quality of Life" in her world and mine. I feel very "Lucky and Blessed." Happy travels and Good Luck!

I can never really make up my mind. I keep going back and forth. I'm usually happy for the first few weeks, then I start getting bored. But overall, I'm mostly happy here, especially with the pups well, at least 12 of them, not counting the big black monster 😅.

Definitely happier here than I was in the UK. That said, when I visit the UK, I'm alright for a couple of months. I can enjoy places like Bali for about two weeks, and other countries just depend on the vibe.

I wintered in "The City Beautiful" from '78 to '88, it's changed a bit,,,

26 years here come Dec.....yer its a great style........

Changed a lot, just like Thailand "TOO MANY TOURISTS!"

For the most part have always had a positive outlook and world view no matter the location. Though for whatever reason everything seems easier here, at least for the last twelve or so years. Wife is always calm, flip flops and shorts and not bothered by anything.

I don't believe in "happiness" but "content" -yes; why not?

I was living in more luxury when outside of Thailand, but I am a lot happier here. The Thai people are the cause of this. Plus their massage and food culture, their beautiful women, the ease of life, the pace of life. 

 

I only regret I didn't come here in 2007.

I have a brother in Ft Worth, he has a place on South Padre Island, pretty nice. I could do that. 

In general I am very happy here. Happily I don't live in a touristic place, but in Thailand things are always complicated as we don't understand the Thai way of thinking... Everything is managed in a way it is profitable for them and consequences are never seen. I can deal with it and comments here on the forum are always in general to try to make Thailand a better place for everyone Thai and foreigners

I'm happy with my family and my life generally, but that would apply wherever we are.  Thailand's OK but as a non-Thai speaker it has its frustrations.  If I could afford it, and persuade my wife, I think my son and I would be happier in the UK.  But it's too late now.

Good call. Last I heard your much younger wife still loves you. I settled 13 years ago.  Your CM smoggies must be a challenge. EAST Pattaya only throws up raw sewage🙃🙃
