Luxury supercars belonging to foreign tourists received traffic citations for illegal parking in downtown Phuket, causing a stir on social media on June 4, 2025.

These high-end vehicles were spotted parked in a clearly marked restricted area outside a popular restaurant in the historic part of the city, catching the attention of locals and online communities who quickly demanded police intervention.

Images of these sleek machines parked illegally were shared extensively, reaching local groups and even becoming a topic within police communication networks.

Responding to public outcry, Phuket City Police Station instructed traffic officers to address the situation immediately. Upon arriving, officers verified that the vehicles displayed foreign license plates, reinforcing the belief that they were rented by tourists visiting the famed island.

The police promptly issued citations to the supercar owners for breaching parking regulations, instructing them to move their flashy rides without delay.

This decisive action was met with widespread approval from residents, who praised the authorities for applying the law equally, regardless of the luxury associated with the offenders' vehicles.

The incident underscored Phuket's commitment to upholding road safety and discipline, delighting local citizens who value fair and consistent enforcement of the rules.

The prompt response from the police and subsequent enforcement highlights Phuket’s adherence to maintaining law and order on its roads, serving as a reminder that no one is above the law, whether they drive a modest moped or a million-baht supercar.

This display of law enforcement in action aims to discourage further infringements and ensure that traffic regulations are respected by all, safeguarding the integrity of public spaces for everyone.

Why not clamp the weels? That way they can't move their wehicles until RTP have unclamped them and  bigger fines?

Foreign license plates?

Rented by tourists?

Most likely Malaysian plates?

Definitely not from Monaco , where these would not go through as "supercars".

Can someone identify what cars these are?

There's something been done to the front wheels, perhaps for that very purpose.

They have been clamped. Look at the picture.

Im looking and lookin but my eyes are not so good anymore

The guys who run those cars in international rallies have a lot of what you call "discretionary money".

It seems to me that the smarter thing for officials to do would be to bend over backwards to get them to park up and spend some of that sweaty discretionary money in their town.  And make them feel welcome so they come back next year.  And the year after.

Or you can nickel and dime a few hundred baht out of them and they'll either bypass the town next time or they'll just bypass Thailand altogether.

I'm gratified to learn that my current ride qualifies as a 'supercar', based on value.

This makes no sense. Foreign number plates indicates the cars were NOT rented locally but driven over the border.

I guess even wealthy tourists have their issues. Low class tourists like a punch up, high quality tourists think they can park anywhere they want.

Yeah, just let them park where they want and block the narrow streets - great idea.

And to think people (rightfully) complain when we see different rules applied for rich and poor.

Clue: try looking at the wheels.

Overpriced Datsuns, and not very 'sleek'

Hmm, if brake fluid somehow finds its way onto the car body, it will strip the paint down to bare metal or plastic in as little as 10-minutes...

That'd be terrible if it happened to these cars!

Soon to be Thai Police cars

Ask me if I care?
 "Do you care?"

Nope.

A million baht for a supercar? Where can I buy one for that price?

They'll be gone in an hour.  That's the nature of a rally pit stop. They'd organize legitimate parking for an overnight or longer term stay.

Their money will spend for weeks.

The cars in the OP photo all look like GT-Rs.  Gorgeous cars.  Poor man's supercar.  But they can be modified to be true performance cars.  Not available in the US, and like hen's teeth in Thailand. I've only seen them at shows in LOS,

When my (BKK) company sent me on an assignment to work in KL, I shopped for a used one.  But the contract ended abruptly so I never did buy one.  Had I gotten residence there, I would have.  I'm more of a Toyota fan.  But for a GT-R, I'd cheat on Toyota.

Not a single Ferrari in that photo.

Three GT-Rs and a Honda CR-V.

Its good to have some nice cars around for a little bit,  so many jealous haters around.  People need to grow up.
