Heartbroken Man Hospitalised in Pattaya After Ingesting Mosquito Repellent

In a distressing incident in Pattaya, a 33-year-old Indian man, identified as Devaraj, was urgently hospitalised after reportedly ingesting mosquito repellent in an apparent act of self-harm. The incident unfolded today, June 11, at a five-storey commercial building in the Nong Prue area of Bang Lamung.

Rescue workers responded swiftly to a call from the man’s girlfriend’s 14-year-old son, who discovered Devaraj in a dire state—foaming at the mouth and vomiting. The teenager recounted that Devaraj had been involved in a heated argument with his mother the previous night, after which she abruptly disappeared.

"When I opened the door, I saw him lying on the bed, writhing and foaming. He told me he sprayed mosquito repellent in his mouth, so I called for help right away,” the boy recounted.

Emergency medics from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation arrived promptly, administering immediate treatment to Devaraj before transporting him to Pattaya Pathomkhun Hospital. He was reportedly in shock and barely coherent when rescued.

A nearly depleted can of insect spray was discovered near the balcony, hinting that it had been discarded following the incident. No signs of struggle were observed in the room, except for a packed suitcase of clothes, suggesting Devaraj might have been planning to leave.

Neighbours reported that Devaraj had been a local resident for some time and recently started a relationship with the teenager's mother. However, following their intense argument, the woman allegedly switched off her phone and vanished, leaving Devaraj in a state of emotional turmoil.

Initial police investigations suggest the case as one of self-harm linked to a domestic dispute, with no evidence of foul play.

Doctors continue to monitor Devaraj at the hospital, assessing for any toxic effects resulting from the chemical ingestion. Authorities have also reminded the public of the crucial availability of mental health support, encouraging individuals facing overwhelming emotions to seek professional help rather than resorting to harmful actions.

You can't keep flies off an Indian You dummy

Devaraj had been involved in a heated argument with his mother the previous night, after which she abruptly disappeared.

If he was so worried about own mother, should have asked police for search. Instead of inhaling chemical

stuff.

The son did not inhale chemical stuff; the Indian guy did.

Ex and Baygon on the menu.

Not a preferred choice, but it sounds like he got quite a buzz off of it...

Apparently the swat team were called in, when he started spinning on his back, rapidly.

He poisoned himself after receiving the silent treatment in an attempt to one up the emotional manipulation of the Thai women.

A bold move Devaraj, but will it pay off?
