Why do most people NOT smoke weed even though it's legal?

After the 3 years of legal weed in Thailand, we can see that weed is still a very niche product. Not many people are using it. Many weed shops stay empty all day and  probably survive only because of the few regular customers.

Why is it so? Why do most people not smoke weed? Why are most people absolutely okay with alcohol, but not weed?

Not everybody smokes, including weed and e-cigarettes...:whistling:

Ignorant person, its like saying if u drink beer you will go onto spirits then metho , DiP--it

The "high" drinking beer or vodka or bourbon or tequila or Listerine is essentially the same. That is not so with drugs.

People don't pack their bags and move to skid row.

Lol! Good question! I guess it is the "War against drugs" that has been brainwashing people to think all drugs are BAD! I say alchohol is so much worse. In my long life, lived through the 60s and 70s, I never saw anyone smoking getting in trouble with fighting and the like. Those drinking did that a lot! Weed has got a bad name due to this I guess...and the lame politicians that have no clue what weed is. Bars are losing customers too! Take a look at the alchoholics roaming the streets at night making things dangerous for people! Any weed user doing that? Also notice all the billions of dollars being used in the fight against drugs. Some people earn a lot of money. Take on the hard drugs and leave the weed alone....as long as they do not spice it up to levels that can make an elephant fall!!😂😆

Well, the wifes got an easier task to control their smoking men. Feed them when they get the munchies, instead of picking them up dead drunks at the bars.

Smoking pot a few days a week, or a bottle of wine, even 6 beers, I see no difference,

There is no difference between those who smoke every day, drink every day either, just wasting their life and have only excuses left.

Sad if they have family

So, alcohol being worse makes smoking grass good?

I think it a good bet that 99% of drinkers have never been in a fight drunk or roamed the streets at night.

I posted this many months ago.

Just revisited it.

Could be bs? He is a researcher ...

He does claim that it has some positive effects, but also negative effects:

- anxiety increases over time

- depression increases over time . chronic users are more likely to develop chronic depression.

- worst case scenario , if people start smoking at a young age, it can lead to psychosis

Did you also watch his VDO on booze?

Haven't watched it in a long time,so cannot remember the details too well ... but he's not a proponent of even moderate drinking.

The problem is people cannot deal with the stress of life, and alcohol is a relief pressure valve. To expect most people to quit completely is not realistic. But I don't drink at all anymore. I just deal with the <deleted>edupness in my brain as best I can without intoxicants, apart from coffee.

Legalization of soft drugs makes it easier to get involved in the world of drugs. And after that, some people easily move on and try harder and harder drugs.

I don’t know that that is true.  I smoked cigarettes for tons of years, and back then it was also said smoking will lead to other drugs.  Never did for me, an no one I know. Actually, I tried smoking cannabis once, 45yrs ago 🤣, got so nauseous, never tried it again.  Could actually do with some now since having occasional sleep onset problems.
Managed to quit cigarettes and started vaping, got healthier lungs (medically proven), but now that’s illegal!!!  Go figure.   What becomes legal or not seems to depend on the amount of 💰 changing hands.  It’s nonsense to believe that the authorities care about its citizens’  health, an argument which is used when it serves them.  Unfortunately seems like our so called “healthcare” also cares about 💰coming in for treating problems rather than curing/preventing them.

When I was young, in my 20s, I smoked weed, but I don't care to do that anymore. I also don't drink a lot now. They both make me feel the opposite of the way I want to feel. I want to be awake and alert, not sleepy and drowsy.

I reckon any health benefits from red wine come from the grapes used to make it.  I doubt fermentation has much to do with it

Fermentation has much to do with it.  Fermented cabbage, fruits and veggies in general are super healthy - sulfur.  However, too much alcohol is certainly a no-no. 😊

If those numbers are accurate, that means roughly 10 percent of the population is using it.

We can do better. 50% is our mark. Are you with me, gentlemen? And legalize psilocybin cubensis!

Up to you what you want to believe I tend to believe professionals educated in the field when the use large pools of data.  I don't smoke so I will choose to increase my risk with burgers, ribs, and deserts.

Professionals in their field will prove what their paymasters want them to prove.  Unfortunately, this has become the norm these days rather than the exceptions.

The percentage of the population in Thailand that now uses cannabis after it was decriminalized is at around 10% and some estimates have it even higher. So it's not a small number.

There are also quite a few countries where the usage is near to or above 20% of the population, including countries like the US and Canada.

Or it's the other way around.

I tried cocaine, ecstasy, heroin, ketamine and LSD before I tried weed.

They were much easier to get and much easier to use in nightclubs, whereas it was impossible to smoke weed in a club.

The only drug I didn't like was smack.  Tried it once, hated how it made me feel and never touched it again.

All the others are great fun.

Easy answer, myself and many others want to have a clear mind, without drugs in the system.

I also drive a car in the crazy traffic and have my daily routines for staying healthy, they do not include tobacco or weed.  Occasionally I do enjoy a glass of wine or beer.

Please do not compare weed with a glass of red wine.

That must be because of the "gateway effect"  people have obviously all moved on to "hard" drugs :cheesy:

Exactly, after 50 odd years smoking marijuana, I've now caught the statin habit man :sorry:

So you think smoking weed and being gay are related?

Yes. A much higher percentage of homosexual men smoke grass than heterosexual men.
