CCTV Captures Moment Driver Runs Over Drunk Swedish Tourist’s Head Outside Pattaya Bar

Featured Replies

That driver must have been intoxicated, watching the phone or totally blind! Any sane person would have seen that big obstacle in the road while turning the car around those parked ones!

OMG. I hope the intoxication of the driver was investigated.   OK the Swedish guy was drunk and stupid but the car park was well lit, the driver had his front lights on, and there was nothin

One can only imagine how drunk this guy must have been to fall to the ground and be in such a vulnerable position that his head got run over by a car. It's an absolute miracle this guy survived. I wonder if he'll consider cutting down on the drinking once he recovers? And that's assuming he fully recovers, having your head run over by a car could result in all kinds of issues.

Kudos did the Bolt driver for being man enough to stay at the scene, and show responsibility for his actions, even though they appear to be accidental. If the guy's head was right in front of his tires there would have been no way for him to have seen or been aware of the fact that there was a drunk guy that had fallen under his car.

Tourists think they are safer than they actually are, same goes for children

People tend to care less for others who can't be bothered to take care of themselves. I agree you would think somebody would have done something to help this guy, but we don't know the full story. Well done to the driver for standing by.

Yes, you're right. There could always be more to the story that one may not think of. With the little information supplied, it is still difficult to imagine a reason for not protecting an unconscious human being. I don't think there's anything commendable about sticking around though. That should be the norm and completely shocking and inhumane to not do so. But, of course, I know that this is unfortunately, bizarrely, considered to be some sort of unattainable ideal to expect that.

How can a head survive getting runover ?

Motor in the back of the car , less pressure on front wheels ?

Maybe more of a sideswipe rather than full on run over? Certainly messed up his hair anyway.

But after so much alcohol he probably didn’t feel anything. One heck of a hangover over tomorrow though.

Before you guys give me the red thumbs down, I kinda understand why the Bolt driver ran him over. From the video there was a car on his left side blocking his view while he was turning. Most probably he saw his pick-up clent accross the road and while looking for the on-coming trafic and making his trun,  fate would have it that there was a drunk Swede on the ground. Okay I'm finished, press those red thumbs down buttons.

He might want to rethink more than just his drinking habits. He might want to review his relationship with his wife, who just left him there, lying in the path of vehicles! She may need a rethink on her drinking habits too? The whole thing is unreal!

Kudos for the driver? For showing signs of being a normal human, concerned for another human being's life? I guess I don't see anything exemplary about that.... It is good, of course. It is always good to do the right thing. Just not sure why doing the right thing evokes praise or congratulatory responses....

No the video shows it definitely ran over the head . Look at the car front going up.

Are you that daft ?

The car made a wide turn and approach well before running the guys head over.

The Thai security guards will be happy.  That car accident now explains all the injuries he has from their beating just moments before.

Drivers who hit and run do not only exist in Thailand.

The car is an Attrage - a 'microcar' , weighing less than 900kg, with a 1.2 litre 3 cylinder engine.

It is hardly a Road Roller - but still likely to hurt!

It IS usually the responsibility of a vehicle driver to watch ahead for obstacles in the road. This includes, potholes, trash, animals, and people walking, on the ground or standing in the way.

I can not count the number of  times I have avoided dogs lying in the road, head on paws, ready and asking to be run over. It's a normal part of driving here, no great lookout or thought required.

I would have thought the Swede was a bit bigger than a dog!.... even at night.

Blind idiot on the steering wheel.

And this lady wasn't too helpful to say it politely.

Do you expect that there is someone lying on the ground though? It doesn't happen too often and probably not easy to detect. But driver's reflexes are not conditioned to check the ground.

This is one of the sickest incidents I have seen.

Even if he survives, no way his brain will function properly.

Yet another example of how evil alcohol can be. Makes people do crazy things and in some cases get themselves killed. Yet the most socially acceptable drug and everyone is doing it.

Do not drink to total incapacitation. Be responsible with alcohol. I only got drunk twice in my whole life. Don’t cheapen your life like that. You owe it to yourself to live a long and fruitful life . Don’t throw your life callously like that. Nobody ,not even your wife , is responsible for your well-being but yourself.

Still more than 200 kg on your head , maybe twisting the neck too.

Forgive me, your highness. I did not realize there was a video link. You are correct. Looks like he was distracted and was not looking at the road?

How sad lol.

Leave it to the Scandinavians to get blind drunk

Some cars have a window tint that is too dark to be used safely at night . You get to see only reflections on the windows making it a hazard to drive at night.  I drove a friend’s suv once at night  and got the fright of my life when I realized both windows were heavily tinted. I can only see thru the windscreen. The windows and rear windscreen were all heavily tinted and showed total reflections. Ok for day driving but a hazard at night.

On this post it appears that a drunk that falls asleep on a public road is exempt from responsibility.  Are we all crazy?  The driver could have been checking his GPS, his phone, his customer.  We live in a world with assumptions -- and one assumption is that cars will stop for a red light.  Another assumption is that people will not be sleeping in the road we are driving on.  Sorry, and I hate the blame game, but the poor bastard that got his head crushed should have responsibility for his actions.  Actions have Consequences.

This stuff always happens late at night and involves alcohol.

Exactly, and yet everyone is all up in arms about a few weed shops and the occasional smell of cannabis in the air, when alcohol fueled, drunken bar fights, traffic accidents and fatalities of pedestrians and domestic violence are so common as to hardly be worth mentioning.

Whether the guy on the ground was intoxicated is entirely irrelevant to the fact that the driver injured him.

The context of this feed is - Thailand. Although, I never said or implied anything of the sort anyway....
