It's probably the retirees and economic migrants who come to live cheaper in Thailand. They are nice to Thai people who are also very nice to them, love the warm weather, beaches, fruits, and contribute a small amount to the Thai economy.  It all turns sour and they become bitter if they expect to be put on a pedestal and be worshipped like they heard about natives being subservient to their colonial Masters.

I'm surprised anyone can afford a decent life in western countries, housing costs and property taxes are becoming impossible for the young and retired people to pay, don't think there are many pensioners having a decent life back in the UK.

Consumerism has peaked. At least for me buying useless junk never improved my life

I love living here, the country itself is great but like every other country in the world some of the people/politicians etc cause problems for everyone else. I am honest enough to state these problems same as I did in my home country, being honest about the BS that happens is not hate, its fact, the problem is with those that go out of their way to white wash everything and deny the truth.  Wearing rose coloured glasses makes those denying the truth is a laugh, for what ever reason some will never admit the faults then say anyone that actually sees these faults should leave the country, I am happily married, live a comfortable lfe and try to avoid the BS, my wife also sees all the BS that happens and has no problems stating it, Thailand is her birth country but she sees the same things as me an does comment on them, should she leave as well because she has her own opinions and doesnt blindly accept all the BS that happens here.

An honest person would accept the faults that happens here and not whinge about people that state these facts, yes there are some members that constantly whinge about the country with their own BS and innuendo but I think the majority do see the truth and know that while Thailand is great some of its people/govt/ways of thinking are not so great, most have accepted this and are happy to be here, when thay see something that doesnt sit right with them they let others know, this is not hate for the country but simply being honest, if you cant accept there are faults with thai people maybe you should look at living elsewhere.

That's relative, but for myself, disagree.   When retired in 2000, I could live anywhere I wanted, and still can.  I simply prefer to be here in TH.

 

25 yrs later, I'd have to generate extra income (easy enough) if returning to USA, to live same as I do here, as inflation went a little crazy during a few of those years.   Especially RE taxes & housing costs.

 

Settled with family, wife / daughter, so not going anywhere, and no real desire to.  Not even for a visit back to the motherland, or any where for even a holiday.

Because many have Spunked their cash, now living on vapours and realiseing that outside of Hooker alley theyre not 'hansum man' 

Well I came to Thailand to exploit the poor pretty farm girls.

But since coming here I haven’t made any friends with Thai males.

I can’t believe they don’t want to hang out with a guy that pays for prostitutes.

 

While I still like the women, and they love me I might add, I get enjoyment out of watching Thailand fail so as to stick it up the Thai males who I am afraid of.

Do you have any data to  support your  statement?  The data I see shows an increase in both foreign residents and tourist visitors.

In respect to foreign residents; As a hub for intraregional migration and main destination country in Southeast Asia, Thailand hosts at least 5.3 million non-Thai nationals, marking an 8 per cent increase compared to nearly 4.9 million non-Thai population as indicated in the last report.  2024 data from https://www.who.int/thailand/news/feature-stories/detail/thailand-migration-report-2024#:~:text=As a hub for intraregional,indicated in the last report.

 

Perhaps some foreigners with marginal incomes, or in ill health or who cannot satisfy the visa requirements have departed. They have been replaced by other people who can.

At the airport i saw one of those thai bad boys with dyed hair and piercings staring at my wife and kids as we walked past. Its not nearly as bad here as japan, the lengths they go thru to cockblock there is not as big of a problem among thai males
