The Medical Council of Thailand (MCT) is launching a fresh investigation into five doctors involved in the controversial hospitalisation of ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra.

 

Concerns over professional ethics violations linked to Thaksin's transfer from the Correctional Hospital to the Police General Hospital have triggered this second probe, which might involve additional staff.

 

The latest inquiry expands on an earlier investigation and will follow a detailed seven-step process. Details for the next steps will be discussed at the upcoming MCT meeting on July 2. Although it may take longer, this extensive approach aims to ensure a comprehensive review.

 

This renewed scrutiny was sparked by evidence and connections that surfaced during the initial investigation. The first round involved a rigorous seven-step procedure, starting with a medical ethics subcommittee review.

 

The findings then went through a screening subcommittee before being evaluated by a full MCT meeting to determine the complaint's validity.

 

If found valid, cases were forwarded to an investigative subcommittee, which decided whether to press charges. An external panel of legal experts conducted a legal analysis, with the MCT deciding on any wrongdoing and potential penalties.

 

If there was disagreement, the case could be reconsidered by a special committee. A two-thirds majority could push the case to the Administrative Court.

 

As the MCT advances this renewed investigation, they seek to clarify any potential ethical breaches and hold accountable those involved, reflecting their commitment to upholding medical standards.

Committee and subcommittee and the result will not change .....Keep it simple.. Ban the whole Shinawatra clan out of the country and everything will be better.. As long as daddy is back there are only problems and nothing is been done for the country and its people... All time spent to investigate 181 days in hospital instead of prison, daddy is illegal ruling the country for his and his family benefit and the PM has shown many times that is not made for the job and the biggest mistake of Pheu Thai...

If the doctors are found guilty in misconduct, the felon should be re-arrested and sent to an accomodation in Bangkok Hilton.

Committee after committee. Enquiry after Enquiry all designed to delay the verdict that will expose Thaksin as the lying con man he is together with the doctors who lied and abetted his escape from justice. 

It just proves again that Taksin has his cronies in all the important places, but not only in Thailand.

Everybody knows that Taksin is a criminal and the whole hospital thing was fake,, his daughter is doing what he tells her to do and he is only back to steal more money from the Thai people time he was locked up for ever. 

Sadly there is no effective opposition or option to ThakSIN. This will create more chaos.

Seems like Thaksin was just a victim of medical malpractice.

Thaksin is connected, influential and powerful so it's going to be difficult to get rid of him. But as long as he, his clan and all his clingers-on are around, Thailand will never move forward (no pun intended). 

I am totally convinced that the decision making process that led to Tony's hospitalisation was as honest and above board as everything else in Thailand.

There were 2 but both have been sorted. 

I wonder how many "new" probes  and consequent "meetings" will be held before this affair finally gets "put to bed"?

This is just a waste of time and money. If misconduct will be found, if any, it will just result in a slap on the finger, and stern wording, like "Don't do it again".

In the British sit com 'Yes minister' it was said that investigating committees were only formed when the result was known beforehand and since the whitewash was already applied the committee didn't really have to actually meet

Are they taking the public for a fool?

This committee and investigation is just to calm down the public noise.

In the end, nothing is going to happen because that MCT has no power against Thaksin and his connections.
