Farang assaulted during accident

Featured Replies

It was about 3:00 AM and I was heading to the local 7 eleven on foot. Suddenly I hear a crash and then a bunch of thais shouting. I look over and I see a truck stopped on the road with a motorcycle on the ground. The thais are angrily yelling at a white guy. It's hard to say who was at fault,

One of the thais keeps punching the foreigner in the head. He punches once, waits 30 seconds or a minute, punches again. After about three rounds of this, the foreigner gets angry and squares up. A moto taxi driver mediating suddenly does a lunging punch, punching the white guy in the head. The foreigner realizes he's being attacked from two sides and covers his head. This prompts both of the Thais to stop.

My read was the moto taxi guy was enforcing violence one way and successfully forced the foreigner not to respond.

I watched for about three more minutes and then left. There was at least less Thai to foreigner punching in the next three minutes (I counted one more).

I didn't see the accident, but while they were trying to get police coming over, the Thai men were clearly in the wrong by punching the foreigner while he was simply asking the crowd "why does he keep punching me?" That was a scary situation to see one way enforcement by the moto taxi guys.

I wanted to video it but man, that level of street justice... no thanks. Thai men seem to know they can get away with casual violence and use it unprovoked if they feel justified.

Mate...... You got to think before making a comment. I'd like to see you subdue some of the obese foreigners in Thailand, it's no match a 60kg Thai guy against a huge foreigner.    You

Yes, although many get a job as security as there are more such opportunities.

No surprise, this behaviour happens in most countries.

Anyway, we can't make a serious comment because we weren't there, maybe you made up this story to promote hate, who knows.

BTW, Hope the guy getting punched is OK, if your story is true.

You left the guy helpless getting punched in the street?

I have no respect for you here as a man. Even as an older guy I would have created some sort of distraction. Could have been filming, yelling, anything, running in and dragging the guy away??  Did you even look for a cop or call the police at a 7-11?

The distraction idea sounds out of a cartoon. "Hey, over here!" (waves arms frantically)

I saw something similar in the Pratumnak area, yesterday, but didn't bother to post about it. It was a Thai man in truck reversing but there were two vehicles behind him, the girl on the scooter shouted and the car peeped it's horn until the truck stopped...I carried on whatever..... Nobody was hurt; thankfully.

I guess the old adage about Thai drivers not having any concern about what is behind them also applies to when they are reversing!

You got to attack in packs, like monkeys when trying to control Neanderthals.

One on one these psycho foreigners would kill a 60kg Thai.

Or soldiers, or football hooligans, or motorcycle gangs etc

Hardly a Thai trait, but is it a bad thing?  Sticking up for your fellow countrymen and women?

You seem obsessed with my forum replies. You jump like a frog every time I post on the forum... Do you have a fixation problem? Focus on giving your opinion and not on telling others what you want to hear. I'm sorry to disappoint you. You won't ever see me in situations like that, not drinking at the bar, not looking for a fight at 3 am. I'm busy with other, more productive things in life. for example, how to use your head instead of filling it with alcohol. By the way.. Old video.

Not in the UK or any western country that  I've lived in. Maybe it does these days with all the incomers.

Urban street justice.

The foreign guy was riding a motorcycle?

90% of people buy those things to act stupid on the roads.

I caught a glimpse of a foreigner on a motorcycle, but I'm not 100% sure what he was doing.

He appeared to be cutting off another motorcycle or ebike (I think it was a Thai guy) and deliberately taunting him. There was no fight, but it seems like it could have lead to a fight as the foreigner seemed to be acting like an ahole  on his motorcycle.

Anyway, you don't know what happened.

I'm going with he made the story up... otherwise he's a coward and stood by watching, taking detailed notes if the violence, so he could post on ASEAN Now

Yes, I saw it once on a TV show, where they made fun of this very common behaviour. Whenever they can gang up, beating down on only one victim, they will... Also, more personally, I had a Win group once plotting to kill me, only because I complained to one of them!

Why don't foreigners in Thailand have local male friends? This kind of erratic and childish behaviour is, probably, the main reason.

Attacking the adversary  in a pack.

That's how our distant ancestors hunted a lot stronger/larger beast .

Similar? YesterDAY? No farang? No moto cycle taxi guys? No punches?

Similar?

Really?

A foreigner met an attack after traffic collision?

A knd of common risks of driving here.

When the aliens cause an road accident, things often turn out against them.

Especially when they are not fluent in Thai.

Better use taxi, in case of short term visitors.

So no risks of losing own limbs on unfamiliar roads  during the holiday trip.

I have heard quite a few such cases...

They really should have taken this guy's legs and given him a deserved kicking in my opinion.

At my first school in Thailand, I saw a Thai teacher walking backwards into a lift. I was convinced I was dreaming until I saw the same thing happen at my next school. Later, I saw it happen again in a school in China. Guess it's an East Asian thing. 🤔

Omg, are you kidding me. You admit to posting this stupid stuff before, unbelievable. 😡

I hardly ever reply to stupid comments from different members, only ever to the OP or the article.

Thanks for the heads up, you're obviously one of the many strange people here.

Stop bagging, putting down Thailand and it's people or you will deservingly get another justified comment from me.

I guess it saves them doing a three point turn while they are in there!

Nay my brother, it doesn't. Where are you from ?

I've been back in Canada for 3 months and am enjoying the lack of this kind of <deleted>. No violence, no garbage, people are treated as equals no matter their nationality.  The place is spotless and things work. Drivers are considerate and drive in an orderly manner.
