I can offer even more vivid details, if necessary. I can also provide photos of the scene, for a small fee, of course.

No, the Health department back in the USA when I called to report where I thought I had contracted the food poisoning.

AI from Google:

Food poisoning symptoms can appear anywhere from 30 minutes to several weeks after eating contaminated food, depending on the specific cause. Most commonly, symptoms start within 1 to 2 days.

In any event, dude's symptoms showed up after an hour and a half, which is plenty of time, per your own search.

You do understand that "within 1 to 2 days" includes 30 minutes, yes?

They sell activated charcoal tablets in the pharmacies.

It supposedly helps get rid of poison in the stomach. The poison binds with the charcoal.

Might be worth keeping some on hand.

Five star hotel salad in Manila 1998, - hospital back home for three days, the dirty foreign bastards 🤑

Years ago when on a business trip to Melbourne we were out celebrating a deal and got very drunk we ate a steak meal. The steak tasted 'funny' but I was very drunk and very hungry. Woke up at 3-4am and got to the hotel room toilet and started spewing, Finished that and then it came out the other end. I was in that toilet for hours - first one end and then the other. About 6am I called reception and they said they will get a taxi to take me to a nearby clinic at 8am opening.  Next 2 hours while waiting it was on and off both ends - would stop for 5-10 mins then go again - then it was every 15 mins or so. By about 7am the rear end had stopped and it was all dry spewing every 10-15 mins. The Dr in Clinic immediately stuck a needle in my butt and things settled down within 5 mins. He said I must drink lots of bottled water with a bunch of sachets he gave me to add. Got back to room and slept most of the day - woke up extremely hungry. I did not eat a steak again for a long time, and now they are all 'well done' or I send them back - the smell of undercooked steak gives me 'memories'.

I was in Egypt one time, long ago, and contracted what is termed as 'traveler's diarrhea'.

You know those little salads, made with tomato and cucumber etc that Egyptian eateries serve with nearly every meal?  Very popular way to get food poisoning for the locals too.  Every few weeks news headlines about 100 students sick from bad salad, restaurants shuttered etc.

That is quite dangerous in some respects.

The first thing the bacteria does is seal off the gut to prevent water you drink being re-absorbed into the body......it wants the water to itself.

You have to rehydrate (if the case warrants it) intravenously.

You got crabs in Maryland? Who was she?

I ate crabs in Maryland, I got crabs in DC.

"I'll trade you two blind ones, for one with no teeth."

I eat mussels from a stall on Buakhao every week, not sick yet.

Last year out of nowhere, felt sick, 1 minute later violent projectile vomit, lucky I was in my condo, no idea what caused it

They moved me to the last row of seats in the plane in the middle section because I couldn't remain where I was seated. It was four seats in a row. None of them were occupied. I ended up lying down on the floor underneath the row of four seat seats.

Both photos were AI generated by ChatGPT and aren't real. I thought that was already very obvious.

OP probably ate Rat or Dog.

Possibly. That's what I suspect. Surprised though that you would find that in a restaurant right in the center of Shanghai next-door to one of the biggest tourist attractions.

I was informed that food poisoning doesn't occur that quickly.

My intestines don't seem to agree. But it's true, most of the other times I've gotten it, it's taken about 6-8 after eating the bad food for the symptoms to start. But I've also had a few other times where it did start within an hour too.

I got it once from a similar type place in BuaKhao. I suspect it was from the sauce in the wrap. Probably not well enough refrigerated or they kept the sauce for too many days and it went off. I say this because it probably wasn't from the meat or the bread. I always avoid those places now.

Standing over the bathroom sink with partially digested pork with black mushrooms just rolling out of my mouth like sausage from a grinder. Then a few hours between toilet and shower, then two days in bed.

I had episodes on the other end too. One was a pants filler. Im probably the only person who has ever cleaned dysentery from a Seecamp .32

Never got sick from eating raw oysters until Thailand.  Cipro saved me.  Evidently they are not a problem for MOST Thais.

Next time go for Norfloxacin, similar to Cipro, but more specific on intestinal bacteria from bad food. It normally stops the worst of the symptoms within 18 hours.

But for seafood it can be trickier because you can end up with parasites too. Those two forms of penicillin won't do it for parasites. You would need something stronger like Flagyl.

Twice with oysters.  First time, intentional.  Second time, by mistake.  Once by under cooked shellfish, some kind of sea snail.  Cipro worked all 3 times.  Sometimes that is all the pharmacies stock.

To be safe I stay away from all shellfish, cooked or not, when visiting Thailand.

Do you not understand that my post included '30 minutes' so why do you need to try and belittle me, or are you always just an annoying a$$?

What is it with using the word 'dude', is everyone still in 7th grade?

Dude, you seemed to be calling the OP a liar, and now you're claiming I am attempting to belittle you.

I really do not care enough about you to have a need to "belittle" you.

Dude, I know it's annoying when you get called out, but here's what you posted:

Very little problem with that in Thailand.

Worst case?

Early 1980's first trip to Mexico (Puerto Vallarta).

Probably from a dodgy street torta ahogada.

Montezuma's revenge they call it.

At the farmacia -- just say turista for a knowing look and meds.

Limited problems on future Mexico trips though there was an unforgettable incident at a famous museum in Mexico City where the toilet exploded up into me when flushed. Did my best to dry off but it was hopeless, so ended up having to do a wet pants walk of shame past groups of Mexican schoolchildren.

A little mayonnaise and a slice of pickle and you'd think you were eating tuna fish...

Slice of lemon and some green sunglasses, you'll think you're eating spinach!

It's always seafood, sometimes it's fresh shrimp, sometimes its rotten anchovy...
