Riots against American digital nomads in Mexico City

I'm not sure this is ironic.

One group has money, gets the proper visa, spends money legally.

The other is undocumented, sneaks in, works off the books, and who knows what.

ICE.

The US policy on illegal immigrants has changed. Following an address by the President, DHS is now looking at processes to allow selected illegal immigrants to work in the agricultural and hospitality trades, based on employer demand. There is no suggestion these workers will be regularised, ie issued visas. Its likely these workers will be escorted from detention centers or other establishments, by ICE agents, to places of work, and then escorted back to ensure they  won't abscond.

Same story as gentrification. It's very simple:

  • Strikes me the same as pushing climate change on us too. USA is the least racist country on earth but the media says its the most

A little rich coming from the Mexicans, who export thousands of their people to the US yearly only for them to remit their earnings back to Mexico, which keeps it afloat

That seems likely to stop, following the new Agri-Hospitality policy announced in Iowa; Mexicans will be working, but not sending any money home, because they won't be getting any money, but will be getting free (shared) room and board.

Sadly, a lot of non-Western people really want the West to fail.  It hardly surprises me to see a group saying "We don't want Americans here, they're making things financially difficult for us" while at the same time, they're in America saying "You should allow us to stay here, even though it is financially difficult for you."

They've been turned into perpetual victims with a resulting sense of entitlement by years of leftist "White man bad; Brown people good" campaigns.

That non-Western people want the West to fail does not surprise me.

That so many Western people, including many in the US seem to want the US to fail, does surprise me.

Conduct your own little survey, whenever you run into a an American leftie, ask them if America is a raciest country. Then report back and let us know of the results.

Thank you.

No thanks, I am more a 'little' concerned about those who voted for Trump.........😬

Fine, Mexico ban all US citizens and the US ban all Mexican citizens, reciprocity is good hey... quid pro quo, lol, good luck with that regarding who loses. So many morons mouthing off these days about nonsense.

Look who is talking about nonsense. Mexico is the 12th largest economy in the world with a gross output of nearly two trillion dollars.

Kill-a-gringo term has been around for eons

Yes, I remember "Yankee go home" protests on the TV news from early 1960s.

One of my earliest impressions of Latin America.

Equate that to people complaining, criticizing USA on AN, living envious, unhappy lives and venting their frustration of not having a set, to do whatever, to make themselves happy.

Really kind of enjoyable watching them lose their sh!t over themselves :cheesy:

Greece has a similar problem.

Locals are being priced out by Airbnb rentals.

Greedy landlords are also to blame for the problem, not just digital nomads

Correct. And Mexico should be one of the most desirable places on earth. It has a temperate climate with enough variation to make for interest among tourists. It possesses gold and silver and oil in abundance. It has a favorable location right next to the world's biggest economy and serves as a chokepoint for land travel to and from South and Central America. It has modernized successfully in many of its cities. Public education just might be safer and better than in many big cities in the US. But it's still a mess, because of the cartels. There is something in the water, because feudal warlords resembling today's cartels have been in place since independence, down through Villa. The one time they got it right seems to have been with Porfirio Diaz.

H2A farmworker visas are easily available. Big Ag avoids them, however, because they don't want to pay the $15 to $25 per hour it would cost them.

I would take a legal, English-speaking Indian engineer in the country to over no-skilled often illiterate non-English speaking people that come illegally, and end up on the public teat for life.

I managed a few plants in India and generally liked the people.

India is colonizing the US. They could put 2 million people in every state and nobody would notice a difference in India's population level. Say what you will about Mexicans. They do share a Western cultural tradition. I can speak, read, and write their language. They in large part can do the same with mine. Meanwhile, their immigration numbers are actually declining--it's Central and South Americans, along with South Asians and Central Asians were crashing the border under Biden. As Mexico has become wealthier and more advanced the pull of the US has declined. And then there is the ultimate test: I could imagine a social and political merger between Mexico and the US. There are places there I would like to live. I cannot imagine for even the tiniest moment wanting live in India or bring their culture in any meaningful way into mine.

Japan is the most racist country ive been to. More racist than thailand

Do you have to report to the immigration office every 90 days in Japn?

I thought Thailand would be up high on the racism score.

How do you recognise a digital nomad? Do they have a specific style or 'look'?

If so; why don't they just disguise themselves and dress like a city gent or a peasant?

From what I've seen the tats and tennis shoes are dead giveaway.

According to this poll our good Indian friends are the most racist. Also not surprising Thailand is more racist than the US.

These maps printed by Western media are worthless.  In every one of these statistical graphic, the West is the "shiny city on the hill" and everyone else are s***.

Yup the only thing that changed about them after the war is they became super feminine

The Japanese are dying out.  Japanese kids don't have kids.

If it were just Mexicans, it would be much less and issue, and people quit assimilating 30 years ago.

It was a mess before the cartels, but they have certainly made it worse.

No so easily available.

Japan is a masculine culture. Masculinity dominates. You misinterpret politeness, decorum and proper dress as effeminate.

I didn't say any of that.  You're not thinking clearly at all.

The adoption of cuteness was a reflection of the importance of children and the celebration of  youth. It has nothing to do with atonement for the evils the Japanese inflcited on other Asians or western POWS during WWII.

This is completely untrue.  You can look it up somewhere.

As I said, you are showing an incredible lack of knowledge/understanding of Japanese history and culture.

You only have to look at the number of people who genuinely believe that communism would work, or that oppressive religions offer liberation for women, to see that there is something deeply wrong with the loony-left, virtue signalling class.

Having lived and worked in Japan and spent some time in the work culture, I think I picked up some hints on society. Perhaps the country has undergone a change in culture since my last visit in April.

You know nothing about Japanese culture. They are not super feminine. They are secure in their sexuality, much like nordic and western Europeans.  Same sex nudity is normal in many cultures. It is only the USA which has attached its idiotic puritanism to nudity and is afraid of nudity.  In many cultures free of US influence, no one cares if breasts are exposed. or if there is nudity at a beach. It is US culture that turns two friends holding hands into a sexual adventure.

Unless I'm need help getting up or in a hospital bed dying no man is holding my hand.

I never understand the Mexicans racism.  They are racist against gringos (white people) yet speak Spanish while at the same time those with the lightest aka European features are praised the most in their society.  They usually hate the real natives, Amerindians way more then Europeans but less so than anyone with African blood even if they are Mexican.  They dont like Asians, especially Chinese or Koreans as well they usually have a target on their backs the most and seen as easy prey, plenty of open and deliberate racism against them in Mexico.

Although they have reason to be upset with the increase in prices due to influx of wealthier residence theyre still doing it legally, are injecting large sums of money into the area in the local business, not increasing crime or in the streets waving American flag, and are putting money into pockets of the Mexican landlords who they had no problem with before constantly increasing the rents until they started renting to richer non Spanish speaking mostly Anglo descent Americans.  A little taste of their own medicine from what they've been doing to American workers for decades and presently on the US soil  illegally coming in taking under the table jobs and taking up the social services.  They can cry me a Rio Grande.   But I enjoyed living in Mexico alot including CDMX didnt experience any racism or animosity, but a few were openly frustrated and annoyed when my Spanish wasnt adequate for them, fair enough.
